Frequently asked questions about this product

Can memory be added to this HP OmniBook 5 Flip later?
No. The 16 GB of LPDDR5x-8533 is built into the motherboard, and the number of user-accessible memory slots is 0. The configuration you buy is therefore final: it is the point to settle before purchase if you plan several years of heavy use.
What battery life is quoted, and does it charge quickly?
Up to 14 h 45 min of mixed use and 17 h 45 min of video playback, on a 3-cell, 59 Wh Li-ion polymer battery. HP Fast Charge takes the battery from 0 to 50% in approximately 30 minutes, with the device switched off. The charger supplied is a 65 W USB-C adapter.
Can it be charged through either of its USB-C ports?
Yes. Both USB Type-C ports — the 40 Gbps Thunderbolt 4 port and the 10 Gbps one — support USB power delivery, and a 65 W USB-C adapter is supplied. HP Sleep and Charge also lets you charge a device from these ports, even when the PC is in sleep mode.
How many external displays can you connect, and at what resolution?
The Thunderbolt 4 port drives up to two 4K displays over a single cable, via DisplayPort 2.1. On top of that come an HDMI 2.1 output and a second USB-C port with DisplayPort 1.4a: enough to set up a multi-monitor workstation without a docking station. Two 10 Gbps USB Type-A ports and a headphone/microphone combo jack complete the connectivity.
Is there an Ethernet port to connect it to the company network?
No, there is no RJ-45 port. Networking goes through the Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX211 (2x2) card with Bluetooth 5.3, backed by HP Extended Range and HP Dynamic Range technologies. For a wired connection, you need a USB-A or USB-C to Ethernet adapter.
Is an OLED screen tiring on the eyes over long days?
Here HP has opted for DC dimming, which adjusts brightness by varying the direct current rather than by switching the backlight: the display is flicker-free. The panel is also Eyesafe certified, filters blue light and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
Does the 120 Hz screen drain the battery faster?
Not all the time: the panel runs at a variable refresh rate from 48 to 120 Hz and adjusts automatically to the frame rate of the content on screen. The 3K 2880 × 1800 16:10 panel reaches 400 nits in SDR and 500 nits in HDR, with 100% of the DCI-P3 colour space.
In which positions can it be used, and is it easy to carry every day?
The 360° hinge allows four modes: clamshell, tent, tablet and flipped. At 1.38 kg and 31.3 × 21.85 × 1.46 cm, with a 65 W USB-C charger, it slips into a bag every day; the touchscreen is protected by Gorilla Glass 3.
How does it unlock, and can the webcam be covered?
By Windows Hello facial recognition, using the 5 MP infrared camera (up to 2592 × 1944 pixels). For privacy, a physical shutter closes over the lens and a dedicated key mutes the microphone; the machine relies on a firmware TPM.
Is the advertised software (Microsoft 365, McAfee, Game Pass) included permanently?
These are trials: 1 month of Microsoft 365 for new customers, 30 days of McAfee Online Protection, 1 month of Adobe, 3 months of PC Game Pass and 25 GB of Dropbox for 12 months. The installed system is indeed Windows 11 Home Single Language, with the HP applications Support Assistant, Connection Optimizer and AI Companion.
Is the keyboard French AZERTY and backlit?
Yes: a full-size light grey backlit keyboard in French AZERTY layout, with an HP Imagepad touchpad and a Copilot key. A sustainable detail: the keycaps and their scissor mechanisms contain post-consumer recycled plastic. The chassis is anodised and sandblasted, in a Glacier Silver colour.
What do its environmental credentials actually amount to?
They are certified: EPEAT Gold with Climate+ and ENERGY STAR. As for materials, the lid, keyboard frame, base and hinge covers are made of recycled metal, while the speaker enclosures and the frame use plastic made from waste recovered from the environment.
Is it equipped for professional video conferencing?
Yes. The Poly Camera Pro camera processes the image with AI, the sound is by Poly Studio with DTS:X Ultra and HP Audio Boost on two speakers, and two dual-array digital microphones pick up your voice. A key mutes the microphone, and the combo jack accepts a wired headset.
Is the HP OmniBook 5 Flip new, and how long is the warranty?
It is new, genuine and sealed in its original packaging, supplied with its invoice, which serves as the warranty document, for 1 year covering parts and labour, without on-site repair. Full details are in the datasheet (PDF).
