Frequently asked questions about this product

How good are the mics of this IMPACT 860T in an open-plan office?
They are three adaptive digital MEMS mics with automatic beamforming, driven by EPOS AI: they pick up your voice and reject the noise of the open-plan floor, over a range of 100 Hz to 16 kHz.
Does the headset know when I have just taken it off?
Yes, it has on-head detection: taking the headset off or putting it back on is enough to answer, end or mute a call. Moving the mic boom has the same effect, without looking for a button.
Do you need to take the headset off to talk to a colleague?
No: TalkThrough lets the office voices through for the length of the exchange, then the headset returns to normal listening. A ten-second conversation no longer means taking the headset off.
How do I signal that I am on a call?
With the headset's 360° busy light: it comes on during the call and can be seen from every side of the desk. It is the most effective signal for avoiding interruptions in an open-plan office.
Is this IMPACT 860T suitable for Microsoft Teams meetings?
Yes, it is Microsoft Teams certified and UC optimised, compliant with the Teams Open Office specifications. The speakers cover 20 Hz to 20 kHz in super-wideband stereo, for calls and music alike.
Which port does it plug into, and how long is the cable?
USB-C, with a USB-C to USB-A adapter included for computers without USB-C. The cable is 1.85 m long, enough to push your chair back without unplugging.

189 g: does it weigh on you over a working day?
That is the stated weight of this binaural on-ear headset. The headband is padded and the memory-foam faux-leather ear cushions rest on the ears: the design is explicitly aimed at extended wear.
Are your ears protected from sound peaks?
Yes, by ActiveGard, which prevents noise peaks and ensures compliance with the EU Noise at Work Directive — a point that matters when the headset stays on all day.
Can this headset be managed remotely across a company's fleet of devices?
Yes: EPOS Connect manages firmware and settings on Windows, Mac and VDI, and EPOS Manager analyses, updates and configures devices remotely, on-premises as well as in the cloud.
