Frequently asked questions about this product

Is the dongle supplied with this EPOS IMPACT 500?
Yes. Model 1001490 is the USB-C+A version: it includes the pre-paired BTD 900c dongle and its USB-C to USB-A adapter. The neighbouring model 1001375, on the other hand, has only the adapter.
Can you do without the dongle and use the computer's Bluetooth?
Yes, the headset works with the computer's native Bluetooth, which frees up a USB port. EPOS points out, however, that support for Teams over native Bluetooth will come with a future software release: for Teams today, the dongle remains the way to go.
How long does the IMPACT 500 last in conversation?
More than 35 hours of talk time claimed — enough to cover a working week between two charges on a moderately used workstation. It recharges with the supplied USB-C to USB-C cable.
How do you mute the microphone and answer without touching the keyboard?
With the mic boom: you lift it to mute and lower it to answer the call. If you speak while muted, an LED flashes on the boom, within your field of vision, to let you know.
Can the mic boom be worn on the right side?
Yes, it is flexible and rotates through 270°, allowing it to be worn on the left or the right and positioned precisely in front of the mouth.
Can you talk to a colleague without taking off the headset?
Yes, that is the Talk Through mode: it lets nearby voices through for a quick exchange, without having to remove the headset or interrupt what you were doing.
How does this headset protect your hearing over a full day?
Three features: EPOS ActiveGard against unexpected peaks, the European limiter that keeps the average at 85 dB over the working day, and the Australian G616 acoustic safety standard, which caps the level at 102 dB SPL.
What does the EPOS BrainAdapt design bring to this headset?
It aims to reduce listening effort: EPOS claims a proven improvement in speech recognition and memory retention, by lowering the cognitive load caused by noise or poor audio quality.
Is pairing with a Windows PC simplified?
Yes, the headset supports Microsoft Swift Pair: Windows detects it and offers to pair it on screen, without going through the Bluetooth menu. This applies to the native Bluetooth connection, not to the dongle, which is already paired.
How many devices can the headset handle at once?
Two simultaneously — for example a mobile phone and a computer — and up to 8 paired devices in memory. The claimed range to the computer reaches 30 m with the BTD 900c dongle.
Where is the busy light on this headset?
On the side of the ear cup: it shows at a glance that you are on a call and reduces interruptions, without you having to look up.
Is this EPOS IMPACT 500 new and under warranty?
