What is the Smart Tx transmitter supplied with these headphones for?
To make a wired-only source wireless: it plugs into a computer or tablet via USB-C, or via 3.5 mm jack into an aircraft's in-flight entertainment system, a TV or a PC, then sends the sound to the headphones.
How long does the Smart Tx transmitter itself last?
Up to 18 hours of playback, on a 550 mAh battery recharged in 2 hours. It weighs 34.5 g: enough to cover even a long-haul flight without hunting for a socket in the armrest.
What battery life do the Tour One M3 offer in each mode?
40 hours with noise cancelling on, 70 hours without it; in calls, 34 hours with and 38 without. Go by the 40 hours: that is the mode in which these headphones are used. A full charge takes 2 hours.
How many mics drive the noise cancelling?
Eight — four on the outside and four on the inside of the ear cups. They measure noise in real time and generate the inverse phase that cancels it. This is the adaptive 2.0 version, which recalibrates continuously instead of applying a fixed setting.
What is the Tour One M3's Smart Talk mode?
An automatic switch: as soon as the headphones detect that you are speaking, they lower the music and let ambient sounds in. You start a conversation without touching the pause button, and the JBL Headphones app lets you adjust its sensitivity.
What does head tracking bring?
It anchors sounds in space: when you turn your head, the soundstage stays in place instead of following the headphones, as with real speakers in front of you. This is the feature added to JBL Spatial 360, which widens any stereo content.
Are calls and meetings handled well?
Four adaptive beamforming mics analyse the surroundings and filter out echoes and noise, whatever direction they come from. The headphones are Zoom certified, and VoiceAware adjusts the volume of your own voice during the call.
What does Auracast compatibility allow on these headphones?
Receiving a publicly broadcast audio stream: the screens in a gym, announcements in an airport, a compatible TV or console. You select it from the JBL app, without individual pairing.
Do these headphones support high-resolution audio?
Yes: they support the LDAC codec and cover 10 Hz to 40 kHz, with 40 mm mica-dome drivers. The available codecs are SBC, AAC, LC3 and LDAC, with an impedance of 18 ohms.
Can you tailor the sound to your own hearing?
Yes, with Personi-Fi 3.0: a hearing test in the app builds a personalised profile. On top of that come a 12-band equaliser and a separate left-right balance setting, to compensate for one ear being less sensitive than the other.

They weigh 278 g and JBL emphasises ultra-soft cushions whose seal serves comfort as much as isolation — a prerequisite for convincing spatial sound. The design is over-ear: the ear is surrounded, not squeezed.
