How many hours do the JBL Tune Buds 2 last with noise cancelling on?

Up to 10 h per charge of the earbuds, with noise cancelling on, and 40 h in total counting the three recharges held by the case. With it off, this rises to 12 h and 48 h. Remember the 10 h: that is the figure for the mode in which these earbuds are actually used.

How long do they last on phone calls?

About 5 h with noise cancelling on, 6 h with it off. The gap with music playback makes sense: the mic and voice processing use extra power. For a day spent entirely on calls, plan to put them back in the case around midday.

What if I head out without remembering to charge them?

5 minutes in the case gives 1 h of listening: enough to cover a last-minute journey. A full charge takes 2 h. The case holds a 630 mAh reserve, compared with 68 mAh in each earbud — it does all the work between outings.

What is in the box of the JBL Tune Buds 2?

A pair of earbuds, the charging case, a USB Type-C charging cable, three sizes of ear tips, a quick start guide and the warranty booklet. As the cable is included, there is nothing else to buy before you start listening.

Does the IP54 rating also protect the charging case?

No, it only covers the earbuds. They resist dust and splashing water: rain, wind and sweat do not bother them. The case, on the other hand, should be kept sheltered — a good habit when running in wet weather.

Can the Tune Buds 2 be connected to two devices at the same time?

Yes, that is multipoint connection: the computer or tablet on one side, the phone on the other. A video playing on the tablet no longer makes you miss the call coming in on your mobile, and there is no need to re-pair each time you switch.

Is pairing quick on an Android phone?

Yes: the Tune Buds 2 support Google Fast Pair. When you open the case, your Android phone offers to pair and a single tap is all it takes. On other devices, standard Bluetooth 5.3 pairing remains available, with the A2DP, AVRCP and HFP profiles.

What is the difference between Ambient Aware and TalkThru?

Ambient Aware controls how much outside noise you let in, so you can stay aware of traffic without stopping the music. TalkThru goes further: it lowers the sound and lets voices through, so you can hold a conversation without removing the earbuds.

How are calls handled in a noisy environment?

Six mics take care of it: two external mics per earbud form a beam towards your mouth, while an internal mic isolates the noise. Ambient noise reduction and echo cancellation algorithms hold up even outdoors on a windy day.

Is the JBL Headphones app actually useful?

Yes, and it is more than an equaliser: it sets the level of adaptive noise cancelling and ambient sound, reassigns the touch controls, checks that you have chosen the right ear tip and helps you find misplaced earbuds. Personi-Fi 3.0 also maps your personal sound profile.
