Is a single USB-C cable enough between my laptop and the MPG 272URX?
Yes, if your laptop's USB-C port supports video in DisplayPort Alt Mode: that single cable then carries the image and the hub data, and charges the computer at up to 98 W. Otherwise, the monitor connects via HDMI 2.1 or DisplayPort 2.1a.
Why DisplayPort 2.1 on this 4K 240 Hz monitor?
Because 4K at 240 Hz demands considerable bandwidth: DisplayPort 2.1a offers 80 Gbps, versus 48 Gbps for HDMI 2.1. It is the link that achieves this combination without compromise, and it will remain relevant for future graphics cards.
Can you connect a PS5 or an Xbox Series to the MPG 272URX?
Yes: its HDMI 2.1 ports support 4K at 120 Hz, variable refresh rate (VRR) and auto low latency mode (ALLM), the three features that recent consoles expect. A dedicated Console mode rounds this off.
How does the MPG 272URX protect its OLED panel from burn-in?
With the MSI OLED Care 2.0 tool, which brings together four safeguards: automatic brightness reduction on a static image, dimming of the borders between two images, taskbar detection and detection of static logos, whose brightness is lowered.
What is the real brightness of this QD-OLED panel?
250 cd/m² in SDR, for everyday use, and 1000 cd/m² peak in HDR on a small area of the image. The first figure is the one that describes a work page; the second only concerns the bright highlights of an HDR scene.
Can you control two computers from the MPG 272URX?
Yes: a KVM switch is built in. Two machines connect to it — one via USB-C, the other via the USB-B upstream port — and the same keyboard and mouse, plugged into the monitor's two USB-A ports, switch from one to the other.
What are Smart Crosshair and AI Vision for on this MSI monitor?
Smart Crosshair detects the colour around the aiming reticle and adjusts it so that it stands out against the background — a real problem on light backgrounds. AI Vision, for its part, brings out detail in dark areas by raising overall brightness and saturation.
