Frequently asked questions about this product

Is 256 GB enough on an iPhone 17?
For photos, apps and messaging, more than enough. The thing to weigh up is video: the phone films in 4K Dolby Vision at 120 frames per second, a bulky format that is best offloaded to a computer regularly.
Does the iPhone 17 come with a power adapter?
No: the 20 W USB-C power adapter is sold separately. Plan for one if you do not already have one; otherwise, the phone will charge at the power of your current charger. Any sufficiently powerful USB-C adapter will do.
Does the iPhone 17 have a telephoto camera?
It offers a 2x optical telephoto, obtained by cropping the centre of the 48 MP Fusion camera — the sensor's resolution allows this magnification without loss. A second, ultra wide sensor, also 48 MP, completes the setup.
Is the iPhone 17's USB-C port fast?

Yes: its 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR OLED panel features ProMotion 120 Hz, reaches 3,000 nits in HDR, stays on in standby and incorporates the Dynamic Island — features reserved for the Pro models in the previous generation.
Does the iPhone 17 film 4K at a high frame rate?
Yes, up to 120 frames per second in 4K Dolby Vision. This frame rate allows sharp slow motion at full resolution, and Dolby Vision records the dynamic range frame by frame, for a far more nuanced picture on a compatible display.
Is the iPhone 17's display scratch-resistant?
Its front is protected by Ceramic Shield 2, the latest generation of Apple's toughened glass. It is the same treatment as on the Pro models in the range: on this point, the iPhone 17 makes no compromise.
Does the iPhone 17 support Wi-Fi 7 and eSIM?
Yes to both, plus 5G sub-6 GHz and mmWave and a UWB U2 chip that locates a compatible accessory to within a centimetre. Bluetooth is version 5.3, and sound comes through stereo speakers with spatial audio.

A 6-core CPU, a 5-core GPU and a 16-core Neural Engine that handles artificial intelligence tasks run locally. The RAM is 8 GB.
