Is 512 GB worthwhile on an iPhone 17?
It depends on video: the phone films in 4K Dolby Vision at 120 frames per second, a bulky format. For photos and apps, 256 GB is enough; once you film regularly, the 512 GB is worth it.
Is the iPhone 17's display scratch-resistant?
Its front is protected by Ceramic Shield 2, the latest generation of Apple's toughened glass. It is the same treatment as on the Pro models in the range: on this point, the iPhone 17 makes no compromise.
Does the iPhone 17 support Wi-Fi 7 and eSIM?
Yes to both, plus 5G sub-6 GHz and mmWave and a UWB U2 chip that locates a compatible accessory to within a centimetre. Bluetooth is version 5.3, and sound comes through stereo speakers with spatial audio.
What is inside the A19 chip of the iPhone 17?
A 6-core CPU, a 5-core GPU and a 16-core Neural Engine that handles artificial intelligence tasks run locally. The RAM is 8 GB.
Is the iPhone 17 bulky?
It measures 14.98 × 7.16 × 0.78 cm and weighs 177 g: a mid-sized format, 22 grams lighter than the Pro version and 56 grams lighter than the Pro Max, while keeping the same 6.3-inch panel and the same ProMotion.
What is the Camera Control button on the iPhone 17 for?
It is a physical control dedicated to shooting: it opens the camera and gives access to its settings without going through the touchscreen — a real convenience if you take photos often, or one-handed.
Do the iPhone 17's two rear cameras have the same resolution?
Yes, both are 48 MP: the wide Fusion camera and the ultra wide. This consistency avoids the drop in quality you notice when switching from a high-resolution main sensor to a much more modest ultra wide.
Does the iPhone 17's display stay on in standby?
Yes, thanks to the always-on mode: the time and key information stay displayed at very low brightness, without waking the phone. The Dynamic Island, at the top of the screen, shows ongoing activities there.
How do you unlock the iPhone 17?
With Face ID, the facial recognition provided by the 12 MP TrueDepth camera on the front, which is also used for selfies and video calls.
Does the iPhone 17 come with a power adapter?
No: the 20 W USB-C power adapter is sold separately. Plan for one if you do not already have one; otherwise, the phone will charge at the power of your current charger. Any sufficiently powerful USB-C adapter will do.
Is the iPhone 17 new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document for 1 year. Keep it: it is the document you will be asked for when making a warranty claim.
