Does the iPhone 17 Pro Max come with a mains charger?
No: the 20 W USB-C power adapter is sold separately. Plan for one if you do not already own one, otherwise fast charging — 50% in 20 minutes — will remain out of reach. Any USB-C charger with sufficient power will do.
Is the iPhone 17 Pro Max's USB-C port fast?
Very: it runs at Thunderbolt 3, i.e. up to 40 Gb/s — eight times the throughput of a USB 3.2 Gen 1 port. With ProRes RAW 4K at 120 fps footage, the heaviest files the device produces, the difference is decisive when editing.
How long does the iPhone 17 Pro Max's battery last?
Up to 47 hours of video playback — the figure measured is indeed continuous video playback, not a day of mixed use. The battery is lithium-ion, and fast charging recovers 50% in 20 minutes via MagSafe or USB-C.
How far can the iPhone 17 Pro Max zoom without losing quality?
Up to 4x: that is the reach of its 48 MP periscope telephoto, a true optical zoom. Beyond that, up to 8x, magnification becomes digital. The other two sensors — ƒ/1.6 Fusion wide-angle and ultra-wide — are also 48 MP.
What does the iPhone 17 Pro Max's ProRes RAW mode allow?
Filming in 4K at 120 frames per second in a raw format that preserves full processing latitude in editing: exposure, white balance and colour curve remain adjustable afterwards. It also offers Dolby Vision, ProRes Log and Genlock.
Does the iPhone 17 Pro Max's screen stay readable in direct sunlight?
Its 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR OLED panel reaches 3,000 nits in HDR — a peak brightness rarely achieved. It features ProMotion 120 Hz, stays on in standby (always-on mode) and includes the Dynamic Island.
What makes up the iPhone 17 Pro Max's A19 Pro chip?
A 6-core CPU, a 6-core GPU and a 16-core Neural Engine dedicated to artificial intelligence processing. The latter is what allows AI features to run locally, on the device, rather than remotely.
Does the iPhone 17 Pro Max accept an eSIM?
Yes, eSIM is among its wireless technologies, alongside Wi-Fi 7, sub-6 GHz and mmWave 5G and the UWB U2 chip, which locates a compatible accessory to within a centimetre. Bluetooth is version 5.3.
How do you unlock the iPhone 17 Pro Max?
With Face ID, facial recognition by infrared projection, provided by the 12 MP TrueDepth module on the front. The same sensor is used for selfies and video calls, with the depth of field made possible by its mapping of the face.
Is the iPhone 17 Pro Max suitable for recording sound?
It has four studio-quality mics and stereo speakers with spatial audio. This is what lets you capture an interview or ambient sound directly on the device, without an external mic, alongside its professional video modes.
