Frequently asked questions about this product

How thick is the iPhone Air?
5.6 mm — it is the thinnest iPhone, weighing 165 g for a 15.65 × 7.46 cm footprint. For comparison, the Pro models of the same generation are 8.7 mm thick and weigh over 199 grams.
What is the iPhone Air's frame made of?
Polished titanium, a material stiffer than aluminium for the same weight — a necessary choice to stay 5.6 mm thin without bending. The front is Ceramic Shield 2 and the back is reinforced Ceramic Shield.
Does the iPhone Air take a physical SIM card?
No: it works with eSIM only, with no tray. This is the direct trade-off for its thinness — there was no room for a physical tray. The line is activated remotely: check that your carrier offers eSIM.
Does such a thin chassis sacrifice the iPhone Air's battery life?
It is rated for up to 40 hours of video playback — the figure does measure continuous video playback. That is more than the iPhone 17 Pro and its 37 hours, despite being more than three millimetres thinner.
Is a single camera enough on the iPhone Air?
Its 48 MP Fusion module with an ƒ/1.6 aperture provides a lossless 2x optical telephoto, obtained by cropping the centre of the sensor. You therefore get two useful focal lengths, and the Camera Control button gives direct access to them.
What does the iPhone Air's Dual Capture mode offer?
It records the scene and your face simultaneously, using the rear and front cameras, in a single take. The front camera relies on Center Stage, which automatically reframes to keep subjects in the centre of the frame during a call or a recording.
Does the iPhone Air film in ProRes?
Yes: ProRes in 4K at 60 frames per second, in addition to 4K Dolby Vision at 120 fps. ProRes keeps wide processing latitude for editing — exposure and colour remain adjustable after the shot.
Is the iPhone Air's USB-C port fast?
It runs at USB 3, 10 Gbps — five times the speed of the USB 2 on entry-level models. That is what you need to offload ProRes footage without waiting, as it is among the largest files the phone produces.
How good is the iPhone Air's display?
A 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR OLED panel with ProMotion 120 Hz, reaching 3,000 nits in HDR, staying on in standby (always-on mode) and incorporating the Dynamic Island. That is the level of the Pro models in the range.
Which chip powers the iPhone Air?
The Apple A19 Pro, the same as the Pro models of this generation, with a 6-core CPU and a 16-core Neural Engine for artificial intelligence run on the device. RAM reaches 12 GB.
Does the iPhone Air come with a charger?
No: the 20 W USB-C power adapter is sold separately. Fast charging works via USB-C as well as MagSafe, but it requires an adapter able to deliver the necessary power.
Is the iPhone Air Wi-Fi 7 compatible?
Yes, plus 5G sub-6 GHz and a U2 UWB chip, which locates a compatible accessory to within a centimetre. Bluetooth is version 5.3, and unlocking is done with Face ID.
Is the iPhone Air new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document for 1 year. Keep it: it is the document you will be asked for when making a warranty claim.
