The MC-100 are the closed-back studio headphones of Mackie's MC series: two 40 mm dynamic drivers, a 3 m straight cable and a 6.35 mm adapter to go from the phone to the mixer without changing headphones.

Studio sound, without the room noise

Mackie designed the MC-100 as an extension of its studio monitors: closed-back headphones made to check a take in the studio, rework a mix on the move or follow the sound of a boom mic on a shoot. The closed earcups and padded ear pads, which fit the shape of the ear, isolate from ambient noise and keep the low end, with 95 dB sensitivity for 32 ohms of impedance.

The earcups rotate: turn one outwards to keep an ear free during a sound check, a talk with a musician or while cueing a track. The headphones then fold up to fit in a bag, and the padded headband adjusts in height for long sessions.

From mini-jack to 6.35 mm, one twist

The 3 m cable leaves the left earcup and ends in a 3.5 mm stereo mini-jack, ready for a computer, a smartphone or a tablet. For an audio interface, a mixer or a headphone amp, the supplied gold-plated 6.35 mm adapter screws onto the plug. The headphones accept up to 400 mW of input.

Are the MC-100 suitable for mixing and recording?
Yes. They are closed-back studio headphones designed by Mackie for monitoring, with 40 mm dynamic drivers, 32 ohm impedance and 95 dB sensitivity. Mackie intends them for studio monitoring, working on a mix on a computer, content creation, field recording and personal listening.
Can they be connected to a mixer or an audio interface?
Yes. The cable ends in a 3.5 mm stereo mini-jack that plugs straight into a computer, a smartphone or a tablet. For a mixer, an audio interface or a headphone amp with a 6.35 mm socket, screw the supplied gold-plated 6.35 mm jack adapter onto the plug, clockwise, until it holds firmly.
How long is the cable?
The cable is straight and 3 m long. It enters the left earcup, leaving the right side free, and its length lets you move around a studio desk or a mixer without pulling on the plug. The L and R markings above each earcup show which way round to wear them.
Can you listen with one ear only?
Yes. The earcups rotate: turn one outwards to keep an ear free, for example to follow the room during a sound check, talk to a musician during a take or cue a track in a DJ booth. The closed-back design keeps isolating the ear that stays covered.
Do the headphones fold for travel?
Yes. The MC-100 fold up to fit in a bag or a drawer and take less room on the move. They weigh 233 g. Mackie designs them for the studio as well as for shoots and outdoor recording, with a rugged build made to last.
Are they comfortable for long sessions?
Yes. The headband is padded and height-adjustable, and the padded ear pads fit the shape of the ear. This fit keeps them comfortable for hours of listening while preserving isolation and bass. At 233 g, the headphones stay light on the head during a long mixing session.
How much power can the headphones take?
The MC-100 accept up to 400 mW of input, with 32 ohm impedance and 95 dB sensitivity, ± 3 dB. Mackie advises turning the device volume down to minimum before plugging in the headphones, then raising it gradually to a comfortable level, to protect your hearing.
