This product is covered for 1 year by a manufacturer's warranty (the brand's official warranty). Your iris.ma invoice serves as the warranty document: keep it safe.

Frequently asked questions about this product

Does the 5SC1000IR fit in a shallow rack?
Yes: 405 mm deep, 440 wide and 86.2 high, i.e. 2U. The range is explicitly designed for shallow spaces up to 500 mm deep, standard racks, two-post racks and wall mounting.
Is the 5SC1000IR's output a pure sine wave?
Yes, and that is rare on a line-interactive UPS: in battery mode, the 5SC delivers a pure sine wave output, capable of powering sensitive equipment, notably servers with PFC power supplies, which stepped waveforms struggle with.
How many outlets, and of what type, on the 5SC1000IR?
Eight C13 outlets on the output, the type used by computer and server power cords, and a C14 inlet. Two IEC-IEC cords come with the unit: beyond two machines, you will need your own cords.
What does ABM battery management bring to this model?
It charges the batteries only when necessary, instead of keeping them constantly on charge: Eaton claims up to 50% longer service life by avoiding plate corrosion. Replacement is then done through the front panel.
Why do 1000 VA give only 700 W?
The power factor is 0.7: 1000 × 0.7 = 700 W actually available. On a rack UPS, this wattage is the figure to set against the combined consumption of the server, switch and NAS you plan to connect.
Does the 5SC1000IR correct mains voltage fluctuations?
Yes, a boost and buck circuit regulates wide input voltage fluctuations without needlessly draining the battery. The accepted range is 184 to 276 V.
What is in the 5SC1000IR box?
The rack-mounting kit, a cable locking system that prevents a cord from being accidentally unplugged in the rack, a USB cable, a serial cable, two IEC-IEC cords, the quick start guide and the safety instructions.
How do you connect the 5SC1000IR to a server or a monitoring system?
Via a HID-compliant USB port — automatically recognised under Windows, macOS and Linux —, an RS-232 serial port, an optocoupler relay contact, and a card slot for an optional card. A ROO-RPO connector allows remote power-on and shutdown.
What noise level can you expect from this rack model?
Less than 45 dB for the rack and convertible versions such as this one, versus less than 40 dB for the tower models in the 5SC range. That fits its intended use: a rack or a technical room rather than a workstation.
What can you read and set on the 5SC1000IR's display?
Input and output voltages, load and battery levels, and the estimated remaining runtime. The display also lets you configure the UPS — output voltage, alarm — without using a computer.
Is the Eaton 5SC 5SC1000IR new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. The unit weighs 15 kg, is CE certified with a TÜV CB report and cTUVus, and meets IEC/EN 62040-1 and 62040-2; the datasheet covers the whole 5SC range.
