This product is covered for 2 years by a manufacturer's warranty (the brand's official warranty). Your iris.ma invoice serves as the warranty document: keep it safe.

Frequently asked questions about this product

How can a line-interactive UPS offer a power factor of 0.9?
That is what sets the 5SC apart: 2700 W of usable power for 3000 VA, where a desktop UPS with a 0.6 factor would give only 1800. For the same apparent power, it therefore runs far more equipment — and it is this wattage that you should compare from one model to another.
How long does the 5SC3000IRT run on battery?
10 minutes at 50% load and 6 minutes at 70%. Runtime cannot be extended with an external module on this model: the internal capacity, six 12 V / 9 Ah batteries, is the limit.
What does the 5SC's ABM battery management bring?
It charges the batteries only when necessary, instead of keeping them on constant charge: Eaton claims up to 50% longer service life, by avoiding plate corrosion. The charging mode can be set to either ABM or temperature compensation.
Can this model be installed in a rack or as a tower?
Both: it is a convertible 2U, 19-inch chassis, and the rack-mounting kit is included, with a cable locking system. Allow for 647 mm of depth, 441 wide and 86.2 high — depth is the point to check on a short cabinet.
Is the 5SC's output a pure sine wave?
Yes, the output waveform is sinusoidal — which is not common on a line-interactive UPS, where you usually find an approximated sine wave. This is what server and storage power supplies require.
Which outlets does the 5SC3000IRT have, on the input and the output?
On the output, eight C13 outlets and one C19 outlet, the heavy-duty type. On the input, a C20 inlet with a 1.80 m cord included. Two IEC-IEC cords come with the unit: beyond two machines, you will need your own cords.
What noise level can you expect from this convertible model?
Less than 45 dB for the rack and rack/tower convertible versions such as this one, versus less than 40 dB for the tower models in the same range. The operating temperature is 0 to 40 °C for the rack and R/T versions, versus 0 to 35 °C for the towers.
Can the batteries be changed without shutting down the machines?
Yes, they are hot-swappable and user-replaceable, maintenance-free and with no free acid. The UPS tests them automatically and protects them against deep discharge; they can therefore be changed without cutting power to the equipment.
How do you connect the 5SC to a monitoring system or a virtualised server?
Via the HID-compliant USB port or the RS-232 serial port — which cannot be used simultaneously —, via dry contacts (two optocoupler outputs on RJ) and via a card slot for an optional SNMP/Web or relay card. Intelligent Power Manager software covers VMware, Hyper-V, Citrix Xen and Red Hat.
What efficiency, and how much heat in the rack?
97% efficiency and 277 BTU per hour of heat dissipation in operation. That is very little for 2700 W protected: the rack's heat load is noticeably lighter than with a double-conversion UPS of equivalent power.
What input voltage does the 5SC accept, and how much does it weigh?
From 184 to 276 V, at a frequency of 45 to 65 Hz, with output adjustable to 220, 230 or 240 V. Allow for 35.3 kg: rack installation is a two-person job, and the unit goes at the bottom of the cabinet.
Is the Eaton 5SC 5SC3000IRT new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document, for 2 years on a standard-exchange basis, batteries included. The unit is CE, TÜV, cTUVus and UL 1778 certified; the datasheet details the whole range.
