Frequently asked questions about this product
Are all six outlets on the BV650I battery-backed?
Yes, all six C13 outlets are powered by the battery: none is limited to surge protection. That is generous for a 650 VA unit, which often has half as many battery-backed outputs.
How long does the BV650I take to switch to battery?
6 milliseconds typical, 10 maximum. The output is then a stepped approximation to a sine wave, built up in steps rather than a true sine wave.
How much load can this 650 VA unit take?
375 W, i.e. a power factor of 0.57. That suits a light workstation: a desktop PC and its monitor, or a broadband router and a set-top box. Always add up the watts before plugging in.
How much space does the BV650I take up, and can it be rack-mounted?
143 × 373 × 237 mm, weighing 4.5 kg. It is a desktop tower format, not rack-mountable, to be placed on the floor or behind a PC tower.
Is the BV650I quiet enough next to a workstation?
Yes, it is rated at less than 40 dBA: one of the quietest in its category, and it operates between 0 and 40 °C.
What is in the BV650I box?
The UPS and its user manual. As the outputs are C13 and the inlet is C14, you will need IEC cords to suit your machines.
What battery does the BV650I use?
A maintenance-free sealed lead-acid battery with suspended electrolyte, leakproof. It is the unit's wear part, the one you replace after a few years rather than the UPS itself.
Is the APC Easy UPS BV650I new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document, for a period of 2 years. It automatically detects an input frequency of 50 or 60 Hz ±5 Hz and outputs the same at ±1 Hz. The datasheet covers the rest.
