Do you need a USB 3.0 port to record in 4K with the Logitech BRIO?
Yes. This is the limit to know before plugging in: over USB 2.0, the BRIO tops out at Full HD; 4K requires a USB 3.0 port. On an older computer whose ports are all USB 2.0, you will still get a picture, but not the resolution that justifies this model.
Is the BRIO's field of view adjustable, and how?
It can be set to three values: 65°, 78° and 90° — 90° to include several people or the background, 65° to focus on a single face. Note, however, that this setting is made in the Camera Settings application, which you need to download; the webcam on its own does not offer it.
Can the BRIO unlock Windows with your face?
Yes. It has a Windows Hello-certified infrared sensor, which enables facial recognition at sign-in. Infrared works regardless of the room lighting, where a plain colour image would fail in the dark.
How does the BRIO perform in a poorly lit room?
It features RightLight 3 with HDR technology, designed to correct both low light and strong contrast — typically a window behind you. Autofocus completes the setup to keep your face sharp.
Is the BRIO's 5x zoom optical or digital?
Digital. It crops the image from the 4K sensor rather than using the optics; it is precisely because the starting resolution is so high that the result remains usable. Pan and tilt are controlled from the Logitech application.
Do you need a headset, or is the BRIO's microphone enough?
It has two omnidirectional microphones with noise-reduction technology, designed to pick up your voice without any accessory. “Omnidirectional” means they capture sound from every direction: handy with several people around one computer, less selective in a noisy space.
Can you physically cover the BRIO's lens?
Yes, with a privacy shade that closes over the lens in one movement. It is a mechanical cover: no application can get around it, unlike simply switching off the video feed in software.
How do you mount the BRIO, and what is in the box?
The box contains the webcam, a detachable clip and a USB 3.0 cable compatible with USB 2.0 and Type-C. The clip adjusts to fit different screens, and a built-in tripod thread lets you stand it on a flat surface or on a tripod.
Does the BRIO work on a Mac and on a Chromebook?
Yes. It is specified for Windows 7, 8.1 and 10, macOS 10.7 and later and Chrome OS. Being UVC-compatible, it relies on the system's video driver: plugging it in is enough, and the Logitech application is only needed for advanced settings.
Is the BRIO webcam new, and what warranty does it have?
