How long does the BR900G-FR run on battery?
16 minutes at 50% load, i.e. 270 W, and 9 minutes at 70%, i.e. 378 W. That is comfortable for a unit of this size: enough to save, close applications and shut down without rushing.
What are the Back-UPS Pro's power-saving outlets for?
They automatically switch off idle peripherals: when the main computer shuts down, the monitor, printer and speakers stop drawing power. That is energy saved all the time, not only during power cuts.
How many of the six outlets stay powered during a power cut?
Three out of six. The other three French outlets are surge-protected only and switch off with the mains. Keep the first three for the system unit, the monitor and the internet router.
Does the UPS protect the network and telephone line?
Yes, RJ11 and RJ45 protection covers the telephone and network lines in addition to the power outlets. It is an often-overlooked entry point: a surge coming in through the line destroys an internet router that the UPS was nonetheless protecting on the mains side.
What does the BR900G-FR's screen show?
A multifunction liquid-crystal status and control console shows the load, the battery level and alarms. It also serves as a control panel for adjusting the UPS, without going through a computer.
How do you connect the BR900G-FR to a computer?
Through a USB port — cable included — or a DB-9 RS-232 serial port, to trigger automatic shutdown of the computer before the battery runs out. The box contains the USB cable and the user manual.
What does the AVR correct, and how long does the switchover take?
The AVR restores the voltage without switching to battery, over an input range of 176 to 294 V. When the switchover happens, it takes 8 milliseconds typically and 10 at most.
What happens if you plug too many devices into it?
A 10 A circuit breaker protects the input, whose maximum current is 8 A. On the power side, the power factor of 0.6 brings the 900 VA shown down to 540 W actually available: this is the figure to stay within.
How much space does the BR900G-FR take up, and how long does it take to recharge?
10 cm wide, 38.2 cm deep and 25 cm high, weighing 10.72 kg, with a 1.52 m power cord. The 7 Ah lead-acid battery recharges in 8 hours.
