The GRP2604P handles 6 SIP accounts: can it take 6 calls at the same time?
No, 3 simultaneous calls at most. The 6 SIP accounts do register in parallel on the phone, but calls go through the 3 line keys with dual-colour LEDs. A single phone can thus carry the department line, the reception line and a personal account.
What is in the box, and do you need a PoE switch to use it?
Everything is included: the phone, the handset with its cord, the stand, a 100-240 V universal power adapter, a network cable, the installation guide and the BLF labels. 802.3af Class 2 PoE (3.84 to 6.49 W) is built into the P version, but nothing obliges you to use it. So there is no essential accessory to buy when you unpack it.
Do you need a second wall network socket for the office computer?
No. The two Ethernet ports are switched: the wall socket connects to the phone and the computer plugs in behind it, into the second port. Both are 10/100/1000 Mbps with auto-negotiation, so the workstation's speed is not throttled.
Can you plug in a headset and answer calls without touching the phone?
Yes. The headset plugs into the phone's RJ9 jack, which supports an electronic hook switch (EHS) compatible with Plantronics, Jabra and Sennheiser: with a wireless headset from these brands, you answer and hang up remotely, from the headset. The phone also has dedicated HEADSET and MUTE keys.
Can the GRP2604P be mounted on the wall?
Yes, wall mounting is supported, but the wall mount is sold separately. On a desk, the supplied stand offers two tilt angles, 39° and 45°. The phone measures 214 × 206 × 68 mm, handset included, and weighs 790 g. So plan for this mount if the phone is to go in a corridor, a lobby or a workshop where there is no desk.
Can several phones share the same line?
Yes: the phone supports shared call appearance (SCA) and bridged line appearance (BLA), as well as call hold, transfer, call park and call pickup. The TRANSFER and MESSAGE keys, with indicator lights, are dedicated and save you going through a menu.
Can the company directory be loaded into the phone?
Yes, via XML or LDAP, with a downloadable directory of 2,000 entries. The call history, for its part, keeps 800 entries, enough to find a number dialled several weeks earlier. The directory is downloaded from the server: numbers are not re-entered phone by phone.
What are the 10 BLF keys on the GRP2604P for?
They monitor the status of your colleagues' lines: you can see at a glance who is free and who is on a call before transferring one. The BLF labels are included in the box. On top of that come 4 programmable context-sensitive XML keys. The 3 line keys also have a dual-colour LED showing the status of your own calls.
Is the phone's interface available in French?
Yes. The phone is multilingual and offers, among others, French, English, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Russian. The 2.7-inch backlit graphical LCD (132 × 64) displays the menus and key labels. The backlight keeps the screen readable even in a dimly lit office.
Does this phone connect over Wi-Fi?
No. The connection is wired, through the phone's two Gigabit Ethernet ports — and the network cable is included. On the P version, that same cable handles everything: data and power, thanks to built-in PoE. Powered by that same cable, the phone does not take up a single power outlet on the desk.
How do you configure several phones without setting them up one by one?
The phone is supported by GDMS, Grandstream's free cloud platform: configuration, provisioning, monitoring and updates are managed in bulk from a centralised interface. Locally, mass configuration goes through TR-069 or an AES-encrypted XML file. Firmware updates are carried out over FTP, TFTP, HTTP or HTTPS.
What protection does it offer on a corporate network?
The phone features secure boot, dual firmware images and encrypted data storage. Communications rely on TLS and SRTP, the configuration file is encrypted with 256-bit AES and network access is controlled with 802.1x. The phone also supports server redundancy and failover in the event of an outage.
Can you place a call directly from the computer's browser?
Yes, with the GRP Click2Dial extension: it lets you make and take calls, search for a contact and access the phone's features from the browser, without handling the phone. It works with Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari.
