How many minutes does the UPS really last on battery?
It depends on what is plugged in: 19 minutes at 90 W (25% load), 5 minutes at 180 W (50%) and 1 minute at 270 W (75%). Its job is to let you save your work and shut down properly, not to keep the workstation running throughout a power cut.
600 VA but 360 W: what can I actually plug into it?
The figure that matters is the 360 W: 600 VA multiplied by a power factor of 0.6. A desktop computer and its broadband router fit within this budget. Add up the watts of your devices before choosing, and keep a margin for runtime.
Can the battery be replaced when it ages?
Yes. The UPS houses a GP07122L internal battery (ref. BTVACFUBBTO2LCG01B), which can be replaced; however, it does not accept an external battery pack. Allow 6 hours of recharging to get back to 90% capacity. Replacing the battery rather than the whole UPS therefore extends the life of the unit.
Is this a pure sine wave UPS?
No: in battery mode, it delivers a simulated sine wave. Switchover to battery takes 4 ms typical. It is intended for an office workstation, a broadband router or a camera.
Is there a display to monitor the load and battery status?
No, this model has no LCD display: status is shown by LED indicators backed up by an audible alarm — load level, battery level, mains mode, battery mode and fault. Monitoring from the computer is done through the USB port and the PowerMonitor software.
Does it also protect the broadband router and the phone line?
Yes. In addition to the two battery-backed sockets, it has two RJ11/RJ45 input/output ports that filter surges coming in through the phone line, the modem or the network cable. The router's cable therefore passes through the UPS before reaching the equipment.
What does the voltage regulator do when the power drops without cutting out?
It corrects it automatically: the UPS accepts an input voltage of 162 to 290 V and outputs 230 V ±10% thanks to automatic voltage regulation (AVR). Ordinary drops and rises are absorbed without drawing on the battery. It accepts both 50 and 60 Hz input, with automatic detection.
Will my PC shut down properly if the power cut happens while I am away?
Yes, provided you connect the UPS's USB port to the computer: the PowerMonitor software manages the Keen series and triggers an automatic, orderly shutdown of the workstation.
Does it restart on its own after a long power cut, and can it be switched on without power?
Yes to both. The Auto-Restart function restarts the UPS as soon as mains power returns, and the cold start function lets you turn it on from the battery when there is no power. It recharges even when switched off, thanks to Off-Mode Charging.
What happens if I plug too many devices into it?
It is protected by a circuit breaker: above 110% load, it sounds an alarm and then goes into fault mode after one minute; above 120%, it shuts off immediately. It also protects against short circuits, overvoltage, deep discharge and battery overcharging.
Is it noisy and bulky on a workstation?
The noise level stays below 40 dB. The tower format measures 276 × 87 × 165 mm and weighs 4 kg: at only 8.7 cm wide, it slips under the desk or alongside the tower unit without taking up any usable surface.
Do I need an adapter to plug a PC into the output sockets?
No, you plug directly into the two earthed output sockets, which take a PC or monitor plug. Both are battery-backed: there is no socket here limited to surge protection only.
