How long does the 5E850IUSB run on battery?
About 5 minutes at half load, i.e. 240 W. That is short: the battery is there to save your work and shut down properly, not to keep working. To last longer, you need to reduce the connected load.
Can the UPS start up with no mains power present?
Yes, it supports cold start. Its batteries are also charged continuously, even when the unit is switched off: they are therefore full when the outage comes, which is not the case with every UPS.
Which outlets does the 5E850IUSB have?
Four C13 outlets on the output — the format used by computer and server power cords — and a C14 inlet. Make sure you have IEC cords: there is no household socket on this unit.
Does the UPS also protect the phone and internet line?
Yes, surge protection covers the data line — phone and internet — in addition to the power outlets. It is an often-forgotten entry point, and a classic way for a broadband router to get destroyed.
Why does 850 VA give only 480 W?
The power factor is 0.56: 850 × 0.56 ≈ 480 W actually available. Add up the watts of the tower unit, the monitor and the broadband router, and stay below this ceiling — runtime depends directly on it.
