This product is covered for 1 year by a manufacturer's warranty (the brand's official warranty). Your iris.ma invoice serves as the warranty document: keep it safe.

Frequently asked questions about this product

Which processors does the MSI PRO Z790-P WIFI accept?
12th- and 13th-generation Intel Core processors, as well as Pentium Gold and Celeron, on the LGA 1700 socket.
How many M.2 SSDs can I install on this motherboard?
Four M.2 Gen4 x4 ports, at 64 Gbps each. That is a rare number at this level of the range: enough to house the system and three working SSDs without ever touching SATA.
Do the M.2 SSDs heat up on this motherboard?
The slots are covered by M.2 Shield Frozr heatsinks, fitted with a thermally conductive strip. They keep the SSD from overheating and therefore from the thermal throttling that would cut its transfer rates.
How much memory does this Z790 motherboard accept?
4 DDR5 slots in dual channel, up to 7,000 MHz and beyond with overclocking. DDR4 does not fit these slots: the board is DDR5 only.
Which PCI Express slots does this motherboard offer?
One PCIe 5.0 x16 for the graphics card, one PCIe 4.0 x16 and two PCIe 3.0 x1. The first slot is reinforced with PCIe Steel Armor, useful under a heavy graphics card.
How many SATA drives can I connect to this board?
Six SATA 6 Gbps ports, in addition to the four M.2 slots. Enough to build a storage machine without an additional controller card.
What is the fastest USB port on this motherboard?
A USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C at 20 Gbps, i.e. four times the throughput of USB 3.2 Gen 1. It is joined by two 10 Gbps ports, six 5 Gbps ports and eight USB 2.0 ports.
Can I connect the USB-C port on the front of my case?
Yes: an internal USB-C connector is provided for the case front panel. It is the detail that is often missing and leaves a front port unused.
What network connections does the PRO Z790-P WIFI have?
An Intel 2.5 Gbps wired port, Wi-Fi 6E — which uses the 6 GHz band at up to 2,400 Mbps — and Bluetooth 5.3.
Can I update the BIOS without a processor installed?
Yes: the Flash BIOS button updates the board from a USB flash drive, without a processor or memory fitted. Essential if your processor is newer than the factory BIOS.
What power supply does this MSI motherboard require?
It requires two 8-pin power connectors for the processor, in addition to the 24-pin. The power stage has 14+1+1 phases at 55 A.
How can I identify a boot failure on this board?
With the EZ Debug diagnostic LEDs: they show which of the processor, memory, graphics card or drive is blocking the boot. A real time-saver when the machine will not POST.
