The 23320 places a microphone between 235 and 365 mm from the floor, on a 250 mm round cast-iron base. König & Meyer intends it for miking amps and percussion; placed on a table, it becomes an adjustable desk stand.

Cast iron makes it stable
K&M chose a heavy cast-iron base with a black powder coating for the stability of a low stand. The manufacturer asks for the microphone to be kept as centred as possible above the base: the further the load moves away from it, the greater the risk of tipping.
A ring that cuts floor vibrations
Under the base, an EPDM rubber ring filters footstep noise and limits the transmission of unwanted sounds to the microphone. On a fragile floor it may leave a mark: K&M then advises slipping a non-slip mat underneath.
A height set without steps
The two-section tube slides and is locked by a clamping sleeve over the whole 235 to 365 mm range. A 20 mm cable holder keeps the cable against the tube, and the 3/8" thread takes the microphone clip.

What is a microphone stand as low as the K&M 23320 for?
For placing a microphone as close as possible to a low source: K&M intends it for miking amps and percussion. Placed on a table, it also works as an adjustable desk stand, from 235 to 365 mm high.
Why a cast-iron base?
For stability: K&M chose a heavy cast-iron base, round and 250 mm wide, for a stand weighing 2.6 kg in total. Keep the microphone as centred as possible above the base: the further the load moves off-centre, the greater the risk of tipping.
How is the height of the 23320 adjusted?
With the clamping sleeve on the tube: loosen it, slide the upper tube, then tighten it again. Adjustment is stepless, from 235 to 365 mm, and a 20 mm cable holder keeps the microphone cable against the tube.
Can something other than a microphone be fitted on it?
Yes, within the limit set by K&M: microphones or similar electrical devices, mounted on the 3/8" thread and centred on the base. K&M asks not to move the stand with the device attached.
Does the base leave marks on the floor?
It can on a sensitive floor: the EPDM rubber ring lining the underside of the base can mark it, and K&M then advises slipping a non-slip mat underneath. The same ring filters footstep noise and vibrations transmitted by the floor.
Can the K&M 23320 stand be left outdoors?
No: K&M states that it is not designed for permanent outdoor use and asks for it to be protected from bad weather, dirt and moisture. Stored indoors after an outdoor recording, it is not at risk.
