Frequently asked questions about this product

What distance does the Aruba S2P30A module cover?
Up to 400 m on OM4 multimode fibre, at 10 Gbps. It is a short-reach (SR) module, made for links inside a building or between racks on the same site. To connect two distant buildings, you need a long-reach module on single-mode fibre.
Which fibre cable should be used with the S2P30A?
OM4 multimode fibre terminated with LC connectors. The module transmits at 850 nm, the wavelength of the 10GBASE-SR standard. Single-mode fibre is not suitable: it requires a module designed for it, of the LR type.
Does the S2P30A work on any switch?
It is designed for selected HPE Aruba Networking products fitted with SFP+ ports. Before ordering, check that your switch model appears in HPE's compatibility list for this module: a switch from another brand often rejects a module it does not recognise.
What speed does the S2P30A module offer?
10 Gbps in 10 Gigabit Ethernet, in the SFP+ form factor. It slides into a switch SFP+ port to create a fibre uplink to the network core, another rack or another floor, beyond the 100 m of a copper cable.
How many S2P30A modules are needed for one link?
Two, one at each end: one in the SFP+ port of each connected device, with OM4 multimode fibre terminated in LC between them. Both modules must follow the same standard, 10GBASE-SR at 850 nm, for the link to come up.
