A tower UPS to protect a powerful workstation or a small server: line-interactive with voltage regulation and 2000 VA / 1400 W.

Frequently asked questions about this product

How long does the SMV2000AI run on battery?
13 minutes at 50% load, i.e. 700 W, and 8 minutes at 70%, i.e. 980 W. Recharging then brings the battery back to 90% in 4 to 6 hours.
Is the SMV2000AI's output a pure sine wave?
Yes, the output is a pure sine wave. That is what modern power-factor-corrected power supplies require, as they cope poorly with a stepped signal.
What does the SMV2000AI's display show?
An LCD screen shows the current mode — mains or battery —, the load, the voltage and any errors. Enough to diagnose a power problem without installing any software.
Which outlets does the SMV2000AI have?
Six C13 outlets, all powered by the battery, with one C14 inlet. You will need IEC cords: there are no household sockets on this unit.
Why does 2000 VA only give 1400 W?
The power factor is 0.7: 2000 × 0.7 = 1400 W actually available. Enough to cover a powerful workstation or a small server — but it is this wattage that you must compare with your equipment.
How do you shut down a computer automatically with the SMV2000AI?
Via a USB port or an RS-232 serial port, connected to the system to be protected. The UPS then triggers a clean shutdown before the battery runs out, rather than letting an abrupt power loss occur.
What frequency range does the UPS accept?
From 45 to 65 Hz at ±1 Hz with automatic detection, and it outputs 50 or 60 Hz at ±1 Hz. This wide tolerance lets it stay on mains power where a stricter UPS would switch to battery.
Is the APC Easy UPS SMV2000AI new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document, for a period of 2 years. It weighs 23.5 kg in tower format and is rated at 45 dBA. The datasheet covers the rest.
