How much load can you plug into the BV500I?
300 W, for a stated 500 VA. That suits a simple desktop PC with its monitor, or a modem and a small switch: add up the watts printed on your power supplies, never the VA in the product name.
Are all six outlets on the BV500I battery-backed?
Yes, all six C13 outlets are powered by the battery. Input is via a C14 inlet, with a 1.5 m cord: you will need IEC cords for your devices, as there are no household sockets.
What waveform does the BV500I deliver?
A stepped approximation to a sine wave, built up in steps, not a pure sine wave. That is the usual choice in this entry-level range; if your equipment explicitly requires a pure sine wave, opt for a model that specifies one.
How long does the BV500I take to switch to battery?
6 milliseconds typical, 10 maximum. A computer power supply rides through such a gap without a hitch: the session is not interrupted and the screen does not go off.
Within what voltage range does the BV500I run on mains power?
From 170 to 280 V. Within this range, the automatic regulator corrects dips and surges without drawing on the battery, which thus remains available for real power cuts.
How long does it take to recharge the BV500I?
8 hours for a typical recharge, on a sealed lead-acid battery with a stated service life of 3 to 5 years. After a long power cut, give it the night before relying on its full runtime again.
How can you tell that the BV500I has switched to battery?
By an indicator light that distinguishes operation on mains from operation on battery, and by audible alarms: one when switching to battery, another at low battery, and a continuous alarm in the event of overload.
Does the BV500I take up a lot of space on a desk?
No: 9.3 cm high, 16.1 wide, 30.5 deep, weighing 3.9 kg. It is rated at 40 dBA measured at one metre, the level of a quiet room — it slips under a desk without being noticed.
Is the APC Easy UPS BV500I new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document, for a period of 2 years. It absorbs surges of up to 156 joules and meets the EN/IEC 62040-1 and 62040-2 standards. The datasheet covers the rest.
