Product overview

A professional UPS for network racks, with cloud monitoring: line-interactive with voltage regulation, 1500 VA / 1000 W, 2U rack format with SmartConnect.
Technology & protection: it switches to battery the moment the power fails, absorbs surges and continuously corrects voltage fluctuations without drawing on the battery.
Power: 1500 VA for 1000 W of usable power.
Runtime: about 25 minutes at half load (500 W), 14 minutes at 70%.

What does the SMT1500RMI2UC's SmartConnect feature do?
It lets you monitor the UPS from a web browser, over a cloud connection: status, alerts and reports are accessible remotely without an extra network card or a monitoring server to install. This is what the “C” at the end of the part number stands for.
How long does the SMT1500RMI2UC run on battery?
25 minutes at 50% load, i.e. 500 W, and 14 minutes at 70%, i.e. 700 W. That is well above the average for its category, and a full recharge takes only 3 hours.
Is this Smart-UPS's output a pure sine wave?
Yes, the output is a pure sine wave — rare for a line-interactive unit, which usually produces a stepped approximation of a sine wave. This is what the power-factor-corrected power supplies of servers require.
What outlets does the SMT1500RMI2UC have?
Four C13 outlets and two IEC jumpers, all powered by the battery, with a C14 inlet. No output is limited to surge protection.
How much rack space does the UPS take up?
2U high (8.6 cm), 43.2 cm wide and 47.7 cm deep, weighing 26.1 kg. The rack-mount rails are included, along with the installation guide and a USB cable.
Why does 1500 VA only give 1000 W?
The power factor is about 0.67: 1000 W actually available for the 1500 VA rating. Compare this figure in watts with the combined consumption of your server, your switch and your access points.
How do you shut down a server automatically with this UPS?
Through the USB port — cable included — or the RJ-45 serial port. A SmartSlot also lets you add a network management card, in addition to the SmartConnect cloud connection.
How much surge energy does the UPS absorb?
459 joules. It is CE, EAC, RCM, TÜV and VDE certified, and compliant with EN/IEC 62040-1 and 62040-2 — a longer list of approvals than the average for its category.
Can the SMT1500RMI2UC stay in an office?
It is rated at 46 dBA: audible in a quiet room, which is consistent with its intended use — a network rack or a technical room, rather than a workstation occupied all day.
Is the APC Smart-UPS SMT1500RMI2UC new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document, for 3 years excluding the battery, the battery being covered for 2 years. This is the usual distinction on this professional range. The datasheet covers the rest.
