Product overview

An entry-level UPS to protect a workstation: line-interactive with voltage regulation and 1600 VA / 900 W.
Technology & protection: it switches to battery the moment the power fails, protects against surges and corrects voltage dips and spikes without drawing on the battery.

Frequently asked questions about this product

How long does the BVX1600LI run on battery?
It depends entirely on the load: at full power, 900 W, it lasts one minute. The more headroom you leave between your actual consumption and that limit, the longer the runtime — that is the rule for any entry-level UPS.
Why does 1600 VA only give 900 W?
Because the power factor is 0.56: only a little over half of the apparent power is actually usable. So it is 900 W that you should compare with the combined consumption of your PC, its monitors and its accessories.
How many outlets does the BVX1600LI have?
Six C13 outlets, the format used by computer and server power cords. The input is a C14 inlet, with a 1.22 m cord: make sure you have IEC cords for your devices.
What waveform does the BVX1600LI output?
An approximated sine wave, built up in steps, not a pure sine wave. Transfer takes 6 milliseconds at half load and 10 maximum, an imperceptible gap for a desktop computer.
Over what voltage range does the BVX1600LI's AVR correct?
Between 140 and 300 V. Within this range, the automatic regulator brings the voltage back to its normal value without drawing on the battery, which stays full for real power cuts and wears out more slowly.
Does the BVX1600LI connect to a computer?
No, it has no USB port: its status is shown by LEDs, online or on battery, supplemented by an audible alarm when it switches to battery and another when the battery is running out. So there is no automatic shutdown controlled from the computer.
How long does it take to recharge the BVX1600LI?
8 hours, on a 24 V, 7 Ah sealed lead-acid battery with a stated service life of 2 to 3 years. After a long power cut, give it the night before counting on its full runtime again.
Where should the BVX1600LI be installed, and can it go in a rack?
No, it is not rack-mountable: it is a tower unit that stands on the floor, 14 cm wide, 39 deep and 19 high. Rated at 40 dBA, it can sit next to a workstation.
Is the APC Easy UPS BVX1600LI new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document, for 2 years. It absorbs surges of up to 273 joules and meets the EN/IEC 62040-1 and 62040-2 standards. The datasheet covers the rest.
