Frequently asked questions about this product

How long does the BVX2200LI run on battery?
About 9 minutes at half load, i.e. 600 W, and 5 minutes at 840 W. On the other hand, loaded up to its 1200 W limit, it lasts only one minute: it is best to keep some headroom.
Can I plug a standard computer power cord into the BVX2200LI?
Its six outputs are C19 outlets, designed for power-hungry equipment: they take C20 plugs, which are wider than the C14 plugs on ordinary computer cords. Make sure you have the matching cords for each device.
How does the BVX2200LI connect to the mains?
Through a heavy-duty C20 inlet, with a 1.22 m cord — not the C14 of a desktop UPS. Check that the wall socket and the circuit supplying it can handle the consumption of the whole setup.
Why does 2200 VA only give 1200 W?
Because the power factor is 0.54: barely more than half of the apparent power is usable. It is indeed 1200 W that you should compare with the combined consumption of your workstation or your small server.
What waveform does the BVX2200LI output?
An approximated sine wave, built up in steps, not a pure sine wave. Transfer takes 6 milliseconds typical and 10 maximum, a gap that a computer power supply absorbs without a hitch.
Over what voltage range does the BVX2200LI's AVR correct?
Between 140 and 300 V. Within this range, the automatic regulator brings the voltage back to its normal value without drawing on the battery, which thus stays full for real power cuts and wears out more slowly.
Is the BVX2200LI's battery replaceable?
Yes, under part number APCRBC177. It is a 24 V, 9 Ah sealed lead-acid pack, i.e. 216 VAh, with a stated service life of 2 to 3 years.
Does the BVX2200LI connect to a computer?
No, it has no USB port: its status is shown by LEDs, online or on battery, with an audible alarm when it switches to battery and another when the battery is running out. So there is no automatic shutdown controlled from the computer.
Where should the BVX2200LI be installed, and can it go in a rack?
No, it is not rack-mountable: it is a tower unit that stands on the floor, measuring 140 × 390 × 190 mm and weighing 12.2 kg. Rated at 40 dBA, it stays quiet next to a workstation.
Is the APC Easy UPS BVX2200LI new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document, for 2 years. A full recharge takes 8 hours and surge absorption reaches 273 joules. The datasheet covers the rest.
