Can the Sony SRS-XV800 be used as a TV speaker?
Yes: it features a TV sound booster mode that enriches the sound of films and programmes, with more present bass than a TV speaker. It is a use in its own right for this model, on top of parties.
How do you stay in control of the speaker in the dark?
Its touch panel lights up: the controls remain visible and usable in a dark room or during an evening party, so there is no need to fumble for the buttons or take out your phone to change track.
What playtime is claimed for the SRS-XV800?
25 hours on a full charge, and 10 minutes of quick charging give 3 hours of playback. Enough to last an entire party and set off again the next day without having to plan the recharge far in advance.
How is the sound projected on the XV800?
Omnidirectionally: it projects sound in all directions, so guests standing behind the speaker hear as well as those in front. Six tweeters and X-Balanced speaker units ensure clarity at high volume.
Can you sing or play an instrument through the XV800?
Yes: it has microphone and guitar inputs, indoors as well as outdoors. Plug in a microphone for karaoke or a guitar, with the speaker then acting as an amplifier for a small performance.
What does the MEGA BASS function do?
It boosts the bass with a single activation, for upbeat tracks or a party atmosphere. It is an on-demand setting: you return to a neutral sound when watching a film or a programme through the TV sound booster mode.
Can the speaker handle an outdoor party?
Yes, it is rated IPX4: splashes and light rain will not stop it. The X indicates that dust resistance has not been rated, and this rating does not cover any immersion.
Is the speaker new and covered by a warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. Fine-tuning — equalisation, ambiences — is then done through the brand's dedicated app, from a phone.
