How long does the 5E1200UF last on battery with a desktop PC?
About 40 minutes with a single PC, and 15 minutes if you connect two. These are the typical backup times stated for a complete workstation: they shrink with a large monitor, more power-hungry hardware or a battery nearing the end of its life.
What does the AVR regulator do when the mains voltage drops or rises?
It corrects the voltage itself without switching to battery, over an input range of 140 to 300 V. As long as the power stays within this window, the battery is not used and is kept for genuine power cuts: that is the whole point of a double-boost line-interactive UPS where the grid fluctuates.
Is the UPS noisy in an office or a living space?
No, it has no fan at all: the fanless design covers the range up to 1200 VA, and the noise level stays below 25 dBA. You can place it under a desk, next to a workstation or in a living room without hearing it run.
Can the UPS be switched on when there is no power at all?
Yes, it supports cold start: it switches on and powers your devices from the battery even with no mains present. Its batteries are also kept charged at all times, even when the unit is switched off, so they are full when the power cut comes.
What happens if the power cut lasts longer than the battery?
The UPS shuts down once the battery is empty, then restarts on its own when power returns: the automatic restart function restores power after a full discharge. Your devices start up again without anyone having to come back and press a button.
Do I need to install software for the PC to shut down properly?

The UPS runs an automatic battery test and triggers a replacement alarm when the battery weakens. So you are warned in advance, instead of discovering the problem on the day of a power cut, when the protection no longer does its job.
What is the difference between the stated 1200 VA and 660 W?
The 1200 VA is the apparent power, the 660 W the power actually available. It is this second figure that you need to compare with your equipment: add up the watts of the tower unit, the monitor and the broadband router, and keep a margin below 660 W to maintain the stated runtime.

Yes. Intended uses range from the workstation and its peripherals to internet routers and NAS units, including TVs, games consoles, home security systems and point-of-sale terminals. The only limit is power: add up the watts and stay below the 660 W of usable power.
