Ready before the queue forms

In quick mode, the IM 2702 warms up in 25 seconds and delivers its first page in 6.5 seconds, for copies and prints alike. It then holds 27 pages per minute in A4, automatic duplex included. After one minute without a job it drops into sleep mode at 1 W or less, and wakes up in 13 seconds at most. For copying: up to 999 copies, 25 to 400 % zoom in 1 % steps, and a dedicated ID card copy function.

A hundred pages in, one send out

The ARDF feeder takes 100 sheets and turns each original over by itself to read the back. The scanner runs at 50 images per minute, in colour as in black. Files go out by e-mail, to a shared network folder, to a URL, to a USB stick or to an SD card. For archiving, it produces PDF/A or digitally signed PDF; high-compression PDF keeps large files light. Through the RICOH Smart Integration platform, scans can also reach online services such as Dropbox or SharePoint.

A tablet-like screen, Arabic included

The Smart Operation Panel is a 7-inch colour touchscreen with its own 2 GB of memory. Every task starts from a tile, and downloadable apps automate the ones that keep coming back. The interface can be set to several languages, including Arabic. The panel also carries an SD card reader, a USB port for printing from a stick, Bluetooth 4.2 and an NFC tag.

The phone prints, the network follows

802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi is built in, alongside a Gigabit Ethernet port and USB 2.0. An iPhone prints with AirPrint, an Android phone with Mopria, and the RICOH Smart Device Connector app prints and scans from a smartphone. On the computer side: Windows, macOS through PostScript 3, and UNIX (Solaris, HP-UX, Red Hat, AIX).

Paper for the whole day

As standard, the machine holds 600 sheets: a 500-sheet tray and a 100-sheet bypass. One or two optional 500-sheet trays take it to 1,600 sheets across three trays, enough to keep several paper sizes loaded. The bypass takes what the tray will not: paper up to 216 g/m², envelopes, labels, transparencies, and custom sizes from 90 × 148 to 305 × 600 mm.

Set up without a technician

The photoconductor unit and the developer unit come pre-installed: setup follows Ricoh's step-by-step guide, with no need to call in a technician. Clearing a paper jam or changing the toner stays a simple job, and one black toner cartridge is rated for 4,000 pages of A4 at 6 % coverage.

Confidential pages wait for their owner

With Locked Print, a job sent to the machine is held there and only comes out once its owner has logged in at the panel: a payslip no longer sits in the output tray. Network traffic and e-mails are encrypted with SSL/TLS, IP filtering restricts which computers may connect, and the administrator can require Windows, LDAP or 802.1x authentication and set quotas per user. The machine carries the Blue Angel eco-label.

A base that grows with the department

The machine prints and copies in black and white only, and fax is not standard: plan the Type M38 unit with your order. It weighs 46.5 kg and stands 677 mm tall: it needs a solid surface, or its optional low cabinet.
