A black-and-white laser multifunction printer that prints, copies and scans for a busy office: 40 pages per minute when printing, and a feeder that captures both sides of each sheet without turning it over.

Both sides captured at once
The 50-sheet feeder reads the front and back of each page in the same pass, without sending it back. A stack printed on both sides is scanned at 100 images per minute in black and 80 in colour, at 300 x 300 dpi. For copying, the same path gives automatic two-sided to two-sided copies.

The feeder accepts originals from 48 x 85 mm: cheques, receipts and small vouchers go through like an A4 sheet, up to Legal at 216 x 355.6 mm. Files are sent to an e-mail address, a shared folder over SMB or FTP, a USB flash drive or a cloud service, as searchable PDF, PDF/A-1b, JPEG or TIFF.
A real cartridge from the first box
The machine ships with a 3,000-page Cartridge 070, not a reduced starter cartridge. Replacements are the 070 or the 10,200-page 070H, loaded through the front door. Canon recommends a volume of 750 to 4,000 pages per month.

In addition to the 250-sheet cassette, the 100-sheet multi-purpose tray takes paper up to 199 g/m², labels and COM10, Monarch, C5 and DL envelopes. The optional 550-sheet cassette raises input capacity to 900 sheets.
A screen that guides, security already set
At first start-up, Master Setup downloads and installs the software on the computer. On the touchscreen, a QR code opens the relevant page of the online manual. The Security Settings Navigator suggests suitable security settings, and encrypted secure print keeps a document on hold until its code is entered on the machine.

The MF463dw II has no fax. To fax and print in colour, the Canon i-SENSYS MF754Cdw II adds fax, with the same 12.7 cm screen and a single-pass double-sided feeder.

Does the MF463dw II send faxes?
No: the MF463dw II prints, copies and scans, without a fax modem. In the MF460 II series, only the MF465dw II adds faxing and the telephone handset.
Does the feeder scan both sides at once?
Yes: its 50-sheet feeder is a duplex feeder working in a single pass. It scans up to 100 images per minute in black and 80 in colour at 300 x 300 dpi, without turning the sheets over.
Which cartridge does it use?
Cartridge 070 (3,000 pages) or the high-capacity 070H (10,200 pages), yields measured according to ISO/IEC 19752. The machine ships with a full 3,000-page Cartridge 070, not a reduced-yield starter cartridge.
Where can scanned documents be sent?
To an e-mail address, a network folder via SMB or FTP, a USB flash drive, a PC or a cloud service, as PDF (including searchable and PDF/A-1b), JPEG or TIFF.
