Does the imageRUNNER 2425i document feeder read both sides?
Yes, the 50-sheet duplex feeder comes as standard on the 2425i version and handles originals printed on both sides. Bear in mind, however, that it runs at 12 images per minute in duplex, in black and white at 300 dpi, compared with 35 single-sided: a double-sided stack takes noticeably longer.
Is fax included on the imageRUNNER 2425i?
No, the machine comes with printing, copying and scanning. Conventional fax is a hardware add-on: the Super G3 BE1 board provides a 33.6 kbps modem, 30,000 pages of memory and 200 speed-dial numbers. On the other hand, Internet fax via SMTP is available as standard, with no extra hardware and no phone line.
How long does the toner last, and is the drum replaced separately?
The C-EXV 60 black toner lasts about 10,200 A4 pages at 6% coverage — an ordinary letter; a document heavy in solid areas will bring that figure down. The drum is a separate part, reference C-EXV 42 DU: it is replaced independently, at its own rate of wear, without throwing away a complete unit with every empty cartridge.
How much space do you need to install this A3 printer?
The recommended installation space is 1,065 × 1,285 mm, with covers and trays extended, for a machine weighing 39.2 kg including toner. This is not a desk-corner device: plan a dedicated location and two people to move it. An optional J-2 type stand is available to raise it without extra furniture.
Can you print on envelopes or thick paper?
Yes, through the multipurpose tray, the only one that accepts 60 to 157 g/m², COM10, Monarch, ISO-C5 and DL envelopes, transparencies and labels, as well as custom sizes from 95 × 139.7 to 297 × 431.8 mm. The cassettes are limited to 64-90 g/m² plain paper, and automatic duplex printing stops at 90 g/m².
How many sheets does the imageRUNNER 2425i hold, and can this be expanded?
330 sheets as standard. The AK1 cassette feeding module adds 250 sheets, bringing the total to 580 sheets, in A3 as well as A4; it weighs 5.8 kg and draws power from the main unit, with no extra power outlet. Output capacity, however, tops out at 250 sheets, whatever the configuration.
Can you scan to a Word file or a searchable PDF?
Yes. Scanning produces searchable PDF, compact PDF, PDF/A-1b, encrypted PDF, XPS and even Office Open XML — meaning Word and PowerPoint files you can edit directly. Destinations range from e-mail to SMB 3.0 shares, FTP and WebDAV, with an address book of 2,000 LDAP entries and 1,600 local entries.
Is Wi-Fi built in, and can you keep Ethernet as well?
Both work together. The machine has Gigabit Ethernet 1000Base-T and 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, and supports dual network: wired and wireless connections run side by side. Security covers TLS, IPSec, 802.1X authentication, SNMPv3 and a firewall with IP and MAC address filtering. Mobile printing works through AirPrint, Mopria or Canon PRINT Business.
How long does it take to be ready to copy?
12 seconds maximum from a complete shutdown, 10 seconds or less from sleep mode, and 4 seconds for the touchscreen to respond with quick start mode. The first A4 copy then comes out in about 7.4 seconds. The 7-inch WVGA panel follows the display logic of a tablet and can be customised function by function.
How much power does this imageRUNNER 2425i use, and how much noise does it make?
1,500 W maximum at peak, about 22.1 W in standby and 1 W in sleep mode with Wi-Fi off, 2 W with Wi-Fi on. In operation, sound pressure reaches 54 dB(A) at the operator's position. The machine carries the Blue Angel label and operates between 10 and 30 °C, at 20 to 80% humidity.
Can you print from a USB flash drive without a computer?
Yes, the three USB host ports accept a flash drive and print PDF, TIFF, JPEG and XPS files directly from the touchscreen. Scanning to that same drive is supported, as is sending to a mobile device or to a network location. Internal 64 GB eMMC storage, of which 30 GB is available, acts as a buffer for jobs.
Is the PostScript driver included for layout files?
No, it is optional. The languages supplied as standard are UFR II and PCL 6; the PS CM1 printer kit adds Adobe PostScript 3 and its 136 Roman fonts. Also installed separately are the PLC A1 international font set and the D1 barcode printing kit, if your labels require them.
How can you stop a confidential document from sitting in the output tray?
The machine supports secure printing and encrypted secure printing: the job is held until you identify yourself on the screen. Identification is by PIN code, by image or by department ID, and an audit log tracks jobs.
What warranty covers this imageRUNNER 2425i?
1 year, with the invoice serving as the warranty document, on a new machine whose C-EXV 60 toner is already installed at start-up. Remote fleet monitoring is provided through iW Management Console and eMaintenance. The technical details are in the manufacturer documentation.
