What age is the HyperX Cloud Mini designed for?
For ages 8 to 12: that is the age range the manufacturer targets, with the volume capped below 85 dB to protect hearing. The headset will not go above that level, whatever the device's volume setting.
Does this headset work on consoles as well as on PC?
Yes: it is listed as compatible with PC, Xbox, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, Chromebook and mobile. It is even Chromebook certified and supports Fast Pair for quick pairing.
Can it be used wired if the battery is flat?
Yes, through a four-pole 3.5 mm jack — the kind that also carries the mic. So the child can keep playing or follow a lesson while the headset recharges.
How does a child mute the mic?
By swivelling it upwards: the mic mutes with a simple movement, with no button to find. It is the simplest action to explain to a child playing online.
What battery life and charging time does this headset have?
Up to 25 hours per charge, and 2 hours for a full charge. The wireless range reaches 20 metres: the child can move away from the console without losing the sound.
Is the headset suited to a child's head?
It weighs 132 g and has a closed-back on-ear design, resting on the ear — more compact than a model that surrounds it. The ear cushions are made of memory foam.
Can this headset be worn around the neck between games?
Yes, the ear cups rotate: they swivel flat so the headset can rest against you during a break, instead of sitting across your head.
How good are the speakers in this children's headset?
They are 30 mm drivers with neodymium magnets, a diameter suited to a compact headset. Combined with the 85 dB cap, they aim for comfortable listening rather than showy bass.
