What does the 8 GB / 256 GB version of the Galaxy A17 4G offer?
233.3 GB is actually available, compared with around a hundred on the 128 GB version, and the 8 GB of RAM keeps more apps loaded: going back to a tab does not trigger a full reload.
Is the Galaxy A17 4G's microSD slot shared with the SIM?
Yes: the tray is hybrid, its second position taking either a nano-SIM or a microSD card of up to 2 TB. On this 256 GB version, the trade-off is easier — most users will keep both lines active.
Why 90 Hz and not 120 on the Galaxy A17 4G?
It is the compromise at this level of the range: 90 Hz already gives noticeably smoother scrolling than 60 Hz, without the extra power drain of a 120 Hz panel. The screen is still a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED, with perfect blacks.
What resolution does the Galaxy A17 4G record video in?
In Full HD 1920 × 1080 at 30 frames per second, with slow motion at 120 fps in HD. This is the right resolution for memories, social media and messaging, and it produces files that are much easier to store and share than 4K.
Can the Galaxy A17 4G handle getting wet?
Its IP54 rating covers dust and water splashes, not immersion: a downpour and wet hands are no problem, but no bath, no swimming pool and no rinsing under the tap. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus+.
Does the Galaxy A17 4G play sound in stereo?
No: sound comes from a single speaker. For a film or a game, headphones or a speaker bring back the soundstage. Wired headphone output goes through the USB-C port, with an adapter needed for a 3.5 mm plug.
Does the Galaxy A17 4G stabilise its photos?
Yes, its 50 MP f/1.8 main sensor has optical image stabilisation: the exposure can last longer without the image moving, which gives brighter, less blurry indoor and evening shots.
What are the Galaxy A17 4G's ultra-wide and macro cameras for?
The 5 MP f/2.2 ultra-wide widens the frame for a landscape or a group; the 2 MP f/2.4 macro can focus from just a few centimetres away. Zoom, for its part, is digital up to 10x and crops the image.
Does the Galaxy A17 4G's front camera have autofocus?
No, its focus is fixed: the 13 MP sensor has an f/2.0 aperture, a relatively wide value that helps indoors, but you need to hold the phone at arm's length to get a perfectly sharp portrait.
What wireless technologies does the Galaxy A17 4G have?
Wi-Fi 5 (dual-band 802.11ac), Bluetooth 5.3 and an NFC chip for contactless payment. Location combines GPS, Glonass, Beidou, Galileo and QZSS. The USB-C port runs at USB 2.0, which is enough for charging and syncing.
