What is the Smart Tx transmitter supplied with these headphones for?
To make a non-wireless source wireless: it plugs via USB-C or 3.5 mm jack into a computer, a TV or an aircraft's in-flight entertainment system, then transmits the sound to the headphones. Its screen is a touchscreen.
What battery life does the black Tour One M3 offer in each mode?
40 hours with noise cancellation on, 70 hours without it. Go by the 40 hours: that is how you will really use them. 5 minutes of charging also gives you 5 hours of listening.
How many microphones drive the noise cancellation?
Eight, spread across the outside and inside of the ear cups, in an adaptive 2.0 version adjusted in real time. It targets wind, street noise and office chatter rather than a constant noise.
What is Smart Talk mode?
An automatic switch: as soon as the headphones detect that you are speaking, they lower the music and let in ambient sound. You can start a conversation without touching the pause button.
Do these headphones support high-resolution audio?
Yes: they support the LDAC codec and have a built-in digital-to-analogue converter. Their 40 mm mica-dome drivers deliver this sound, provided the source also supports LDAC.
What does head tracking bring?
It anchors the soundstage in space: when you turn your head, the sounds stay in place instead of following the headphones, as if you were in front of real speakers. This is the feature added to JBL Spatial 360.
How well are calls handled on this model?
Four beamforming microphones take care of them, with processing that removes echo and ambient noise. The headphones can also stay paired with two Bluetooth devices at the same time.
