Frequently asked questions about this product

Is the JBL Xtreme 4 as powerful on battery as when plugged in?
No. On mains power, it delivers 100 W RMS (2 x 30 W for the woofers, 2 x 20 W for the tweeters); on battery, 70 W (2 x 20 W and 2 x 15 W). The difference is mostly heard at high volume: for an outdoor party, having a socket nearby makes a real difference.
Can the battery of the JBL Xtreme 4 really be replaced?
Yes, in three simple steps: the rechargeable battery comes out and is replaced to get the speaker back to full capacity. It is sold separately — which is what means you can count on this speaker for several years, rather than just for the lifespan of its original battery.
What battery life does the Xtreme 4 offer?
24 hours of playback on a single charge, plus up to 6 hours more when you turn on Playtime Boost, which adjusts performance to extend the battery. A full recharge takes 3.5 hours.
Is a charging cable supplied with the JBL Xtreme 4?
No, no charging cable comes with the speaker. Make sure you have one that fits its charging port: your phone's cable will do the job of topping it up between outings.
What does the Xtreme 4's IP67 rating protect against?
The 6 means it is fully sealed against dust, and therefore sand, and the 7 covers temporary immersion: a sudden downpour or a dip in a lake will not stop the music. Rubber bumpers add protection against knocks.
How do you carry the JBL Xtreme 4 over a long distance?
With its adjustable shoulder strap, which can be set to carry it over the shoulder or across the body. At 2.1 kg and 29.7 x 14.9 x 14.1 cm, it moves effortlessly from one room to another, or from the garden to the beach.
Can the Xtreme 4 be connected to other JBL speakers?
Yes, in two ways: Auracast pairs two Xtreme 4 speakers in stereo or links several compatible JBL speakers, and PartyBoost, available in the JBL Portable app, lets it connect with previous-generation JBL speakers.
Can the Xtreme 4 charge a phone while it is playing?
Yes: its built-in power bank charges a device without interrupting the music. One thing to factor in — this charge is drawn from the twenty-four hours of stated battery life.
Can you change the sound of the Xtreme 4?
Yes, through the JBL Portable app: EQ presets and a fully customisable equaliser for high, mid and low frequencies. The app is also used for updates and product support.
Is the speaker new and covered by a warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. Over time, the replaceable battery remains this model's strong point: it can be changed without going to a repairer when the original battery starts to weaken.
