Frequently asked questions about this product
Can these headphones translate a conversation live?
Yes: Live Translation renders what the person you are talking to says in your language. It is an unusual feature on headphones, and it is aimed at everyday conversations rather than translating content.
Does the volume drop when I start speaking?
Yes, that is Conversation Awareness: as soon as you speak, the headphones lower the volume so the conversation can take place. You need neither take the headphones off nor pause playback.
Are calls handled well in a noisy place?
Yes: Voice Isolation separates your speech from ambient noise during calls. So the headphones do not just reduce what you hear; they also clean up what the person on the other end receives.
What is the rated battery life of these Apple headphones?
Up to 20 hours of listening with Active Noise Cancellation and spatial audio enabled. So the figure already includes its conditions: it really is the battery life in the mode in which you use these headphones.
Do the headphones protect against a sudden, overly loud noise?
Yes: they feature Loud Sound Reduction and Personalised Volume, which learns to adjust the level to different environments. Two features that work without any action on your part.
What does Adaptive Audio mode do?
It adjusts the level of noise cancellation by itself depending on where you are. Transparency mode, for its part, lets outside sounds in so you stay in touch with what is around you.
How does the spatial audio on these headphones work?
It is personalised and dynamically tracks your head movements: the soundstage stays anchored to the screen when you turn your head, instead of moving with the headphones.
What can you do with the Digital Crown on the ear cup?
Control the headphones without your phone: volume by turning it, play and pause by pressing it, and call handling. The control is mechanical, so it can be used with gloves on or without looking.
Are these headphones comfortable for long listening sessions?
The design is over-ear, with memory foam ear cushions that enclose the ear. Active Noise Cancellation is quoted as up to 1.5 times more effective than that of the previous generation.
Are the Apple AirPods Max 2 Purple headphones new and under warranty?
Yes, new and genuine, with a 1-year warranty, the invoice serving as the warranty document. Keep it: it is all you need for any workshop repair.
A dedicated button to open Teams, and an alert warns you when you speak with the mic muted. Up to 16 h of talk time with active noise cancelling, 25 h without.

Up to 30 m of Bluetooth range, 16 h of talk time and a simultaneous connection to the computer and the smartphone. In an open-plan office, the Busylight indicator turns red as soon as you are on a call.

•More than 100 h of wireless battery life
•Wireless recharging on a base, or via the included USB-C cable
Swapping cables takes a second: 3 m straight in the studio, coiled in the field. The 40 mm drivers with neodymium magnets reach up to 24 kHz, and the ear cups swivel 90° for one-ear monitoring.
Three microphones per ear and wind-cutting processing keep the voice intelligible mid-run. Up to 12 h of listening from the earbuds with noise cancelling off, and 48 h in total with the case.
The silicone ear hook with memory wire bends to any ear shape and stays put during exercise. 10.5 g per earbud, touch controls and Ambient Aware mode to stay aware of the road.
Two battery regimes: 10 h from the earbuds alone and 40 h in total with the case, noise cancelling on; 12 h and 48 h with it off. Ambient Aware and TalkThru let outside sounds back in.
More than 30 h of listening in total with the case, 7 h of that for the earbuds alone, and the case also recharges wirelessly. Simultaneous connection to two devices, and playback stops as soon as you take an earbud out.
•7 h of listening per charge, more than 30 h in total with the case

The silicone ear hook with memory wire bends to any ear shape and stays put during exercise. 10.5 g per earbud, touch controls and Ambient Aware mode to stay aware of the road.
Thirty-five hours in total with the case with noise cancelling off, and 20 h with it on. Silicone wingtips hold the earbud without pressing, from the sofa to a run, and an ambient sound mode keeps you in touch.
•35 h in total with the case without noise cancelling, 20 h with it
More than 100 hours of wireless battery life, and recharging that does without a cable: just set it on a base. Foldable for long journeys, with an M button to customise from the app.
Plugged in over USB-C, it carries the sound as well as recharging. Up to 75 hours of listening without noise cancellation, 45 hours with, and the app offers 8 equalisers and 3 isolation modes.
The JBL Headphones app tunes the equaliser to your taste, and Voice Aware lets you hear your own voice during a call. Connected to two devices at once, 220 g on the head, 76 hours of stated listening.
Airy and wide without giving up all isolation: the 50 mm drivers cover 10 Hz to 30 kHz, with bass that is present but controlled and readable mids. It plugs straight into a computer.
