Professional UPS for servers, with remote monitoring: line-interactive with voltage regulation, 2200 VA / 1980 W, rack/tower form factor.

Frequently asked questions about this product

Is the network card built into the SMT2200RMI2UNC?
Yes, a network card is built in — that is what the letters “NC” in the reference indicate. Control and monitoring are carried out remotely over the network, with no accessory to order.
How long does the SMT2200RMI2UNC run on battery?
16 minutes at 50% load, i.e. 990 W, and 10 minutes at 70%, i.e. 1386 W. Enough to shut down a server rack cleanly, without rushing.
Are all the outlets on the SMT2200RMI2UNC battery-backed?
Yes: eight C13 outlets, one heavy-duty C19 outlet and three IEC jumpers. The inlet accepts a C20, Schuko or UK connection — no hardwiring needed.
How can a line-interactive UPS claim 1980 W for 2200 VA?
Thanks to a power factor of 0.9, which makes almost all of the apparent power available in watts. A desktop UPS at 0.54 would offer only 1190 for the same stated rating.
Where should the SMT2200RMI2UNC be installed?
In an equipment room: it is rated at 55 dBA, which is clearly audible in a workspace. Allow for 42.2 kg: rack installation takes two people, at the bottom of the cabinet.
Is the output a pure sine wave?
Yes, the output is a pure sine wave, synchronised with the mains at 50/60 Hz ± 3 Hz. That is what the power-factor-corrected power supplies of servers require.
Does the SMT2200RMI2UNC install in a rack or as a tower?
Both: it is a convertible rack/tower chassis. As a tower, it takes up less floor space than a conventional UPS of the same power; in a rack, it goes at the bottom of the cabinet because of its weight.
Is the APC Smart-UPS SMT2200RMI2UNC new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document, for a period of 2 years. It can also be managed locally via a USB or RS-232 port, and displays its status on a multifunction LCD screen. The datasheet covers the rest.
