Frequently asked questions about this product

How much throw distance should you allow for a large image with the EB-2250U?
About 1.5 m for a 50-inch image and 9 m for 300 inches. Its throw ratio of 1.38 to 2.28:1 is simple to read: the distance to the wall equals 1.38 to 2.28 times the width of the desired image. The 1.6× optical zoom gives you leeway between these two limits once the projector is in place.
Is Wi-Fi built into the EB-2250U?
No, it is optional: wireless projection requires the ELPAP10 Wi-Fi module, sold separately. Wired networking, on the other hand, works straight away thanks to the built-in 100 Base-TX Ethernet port, with control and monitoring from the administration workstation.
Does the EB-2250U have to be placed exactly in front of the screen?
No. Keystone correction is automatic on both axes: ± 30° vertically and ± 20° horizontally. You can therefore offset it to the side of the centre of the wall — to avoid a table or a light fitting — and get a rectangular image back without manual adjustment.
Can you display two computers on the screen at the same time?
Yes. The split-screen function displays up to four sources simultaneously, and the multi-PC projection software accepts up to 50 computers connected to the same unit. That is what makes the model worthwhile in a training room, where you switch from one workstation to another without re-cabling.
Can you change slides without touching the remote control?
Yes, with a wave of the hand. The Gesture Presenter function moves through the slides in front of the lens, with no remote control or mouse: useful when you present standing up, away from the computer. The remote control and its batteries are still supplied for other settings.
What does WUXGA resolution change compared with a Full HD projector?
120 more lines. WUXGA displays 1920 × 1200 pixels in 16:10 format, whereas Full HD stops at 1920 × 1080 in 16:9. On a projected spreadsheet, plan or A4 document, this extra height avoids scrolling and keeps the toolbar visible without cropping the document.
Is the EB-2250U noisy during a meeting?
39 dB(A) in normal mode, 29 dB(A) in eco mode. Eco mode therefore clearly reduces the fan noise, at the cost of brightness reduced from 5,000 to 3,800 lumens: it is the setting to choose in a quiet room or when the projector is close to the participants.
How much power does the EB-2250U consume in operation?
405 W when on, 323 W in eco mode and 0.5 W in standby. Its 300 W lamp accounts for most of this figure. With daily use in a meeting room, eco mode lowers the energy bill while doubling the stated lamp life.
How long does the 300 W lamp last?
5,000 hours in normal mode, 10,000 hours in eco mode. The reference value for use at full brightness is the first one. An ELPAF41 dust filter is available as an accessory: in a dusty room, it protects the optical block and prevents accelerated ageing.
Can the EB-2250U be mounted on the ceiling of a large room?
Yes, the unit is designed for ceiling mounting as well as table placement. The ELPMB23 mount is available as an accessory. Plan the mounting point accordingly: 4.6 kg for 377 × 291 × 110 mm, with a security cable slot and a Kensington lock for a room open to the public.
Can the projector be controlled from a room control system?
Yes. It can be controlled over the network or via its RS-232C port, and it is recognised by AMX, Crestron and Control4 systems. The Epson Projector Management software also lets you monitor lamp status and power-on remotely from an administration workstation.
What comes with the EB-2250U in the box?
The unit comes with a VGA cable, the power cable, the remote control and its batteries, the software on CD, the user manual and the warranty card. An ELPKS68 carrying bag and the ELPAP10 Wi-Fi module are available separately, depending on how you will use it.
Is the EB-2250U new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. The exact reference of this version is V11H871040: it is the one to quote for any part or accessory, as the catalogue includes closely related models such as the EB-2255U.
