Frequently asked questions about this product

Does the EB-982W's optical zoom save you from moving the screen?
Yes, that is its main advantage: the 1.6× optical zoom varies the image size by 60% from the same position, with no loss of resolution. So you install the projector where the room allows — on an existing ceiling mount, on a shelf — and then adjust it to the screen already in place.
How far away should the EB-982W be installed in a large room?
From 0.9 m to 8.5 m at the widest setting, up to 13.7 m at the telephoto setting. Its throw ratio of 1.38 to 2.24:1 means a distance of 1.38 to 2.24 times the width of the image, for sizes ranging from 29 to 280 inches.
Is the EB-982W's keystone correction automatic?
Yes, on both axes: ± 30° vertically and ± 30° horizontally, supplemented by four-corner adjustment. The projector can therefore be offset to the side of the centre of the screen and restore a rectangular image on its own.
How many hours does the EB-982W's lamp last?
6,500 hours in normal mode and 17,000 hours in eco mode, for a 230 W UHE lamp. In a meeting room, at four hours a day, eco mode pushes the replacement out to more than ten years.
Can a teacher control who projects with the EB-982W?
Yes, thanks to the moderator function. It designates a computer that decides which screen is displayed among those of the connected participants, in addition to screen sharing and the iProjection app. The connection is made by scanning a code displayed on screen.
Is Wi-Fi built into the EB-982W?
It is optional: wireless projection requires the corresponding network adapter. For wired use, the RJ45 Ethernet port is built in and is enough to connect the unit to the company network for network projection and monitoring.
Does the EB-982W come with a cable so you can project straight away?
Yes, a 1.80 m HDMI cable is in the box, along with the power cable, the remote control and its batteries, the quick start guide and the warranty card. Two HDMI inputs, two VGA inputs and a composite input let you keep several sources connected.
Is the EB-982W's 16 W speaker enough for a classroom?
Yes. Sixteen watts carry across a meeting room or classroom without an extra speaker, including for a video with commentary. A mini-jack audio output remains available to connect to a lecture hall's sound system.
What brightness can you expect from the EB-982W in a lit room?
4,200 lumens of white and colour brightness alike, 2,600 lumens in eco mode, with a native contrast ratio of 16,000:1. That is the figure that lets you keep the blinds open on a large image without the colours fading.
What power consumption and noise level for the EB-982W?
286 W in normal use, 180 W in eco mode and 0.3 W in standby, with 37 dB(A) in normal mode and 28 dB(A) in eco mode. Eco mode therefore acts on the energy bill, the fan noise and the lamp life all at once.
Can the EB-982W be controlled from a room control system?
Yes, over the network via PJLink or through its RS-232C port, and it is recognised by AMX, Crestron, Control4 and Extron systems. The split-screen function also lets you display two sources at the same time.
Is the EB-982W projector new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. At 3.1 kg for 309 × 282 × 90 mm, it remains easy to carry between two rooms; the reference to quote for a part is V11H987040.
