Frequently asked questions about this product

Is the zoom on the Epson EB-W53 optical or digital?
Digital, with a factor of 1 to 2. In practice, it shrinks the image through processing rather than moving the lens: the image size is therefore set first by moving the projector closer or further away, with the zoom used for fine adjustment afterwards. Focus, for its part, is adjusted manually with the focus ring.
How far should the EB-W53 be placed for a 60-inch image?
About 1.64 m. Its throw ratio ranges from 1.27 to 2.54:1, meaning a distance to the wall of 1.27 to 2.54 times the image width. The image size can reach 375 inches, with the corresponding throw distance.
Is keystone correction automatic on the EB-W53?
No, it is manual, over ± 30° vertically and horizontally, complemented by four-corner adjustment. The image is therefore set up through the menu during installation; on the other hand, the setting stays exactly where you left it, which suits a projector that stays in place permanently.
What can be connected to the Epson EB-W53?
Two devices over HDMI — a set-top box and a console, or a desktop PC and a laptop. The USB Type-B port at the back is reserved for maintenance: it does not read USB flash drives or external hard drives. There is no Wi-Fi and no network port: the source comes in through the HDMI cable.
Does the EB-W53 switch on by itself when a source is connected?
Yes. Auto power-on detects the signal from the connected device and starts projecting without using the remote control. Combined with automatic source search, this feature saves you from selecting the input before every meeting or every film.
Is the EB-W53's speaker good enough for watching a film?
It is a 2 W mono speaker: enough for speech in a small room, but too weak for a film or a classroom. In that case, plan for a speaker or a soundbar connected directly to the video source, as the projector has no dedicated audio output.
How many hours does the EB-W53's lamp last?
6,000 hours in normal mode and 12,000 hours in eco mode. The first figure is the one to go by for use at full brightness; eco mode lowers the light output to 2,600 lumens instead of 4,000, and that is what extends the lamp life.
Is the EB-W53 easy to see in a lit room?
4,000 lumens of white brightness and of colour brightness alike, with a contrast ratio of 16,000:1. The equality between these two measurements is specific to 3LCD technology, which handles the three colours on three separate panels: colours do not wash out when daylight comes into the room.
Can two sources be displayed side by side on the EB-W53?
Yes, the split-screen function divides the image between two HDMI sources. Useful for comparing two documents in a meeting, or for keeping a match on screen while other content plays alongside. You can still switch from one source to the other at any time with the remote control.
Is the EB-W53 very noisy?
37 dB(A) in normal mode and 28 dB(A) in eco mode. On a projector placed a metre away from the viewers, eco mode makes a real difference to listening comfort, all the more so as it also lowers power consumption. At 2.5 kg and 302 × 237 × 82 mm, it is easy to move between two rooms.
Can the EB-W53 be mounted on the ceiling?
Yes, it is designed for ceiling and table use alike. A ceiling mount is available as an option, and the projector has a Kensington lock, a security cable slot and password protection for a room open to the public.
What is in the EB-W53's box?
The projector, the power cable, the remote control with its batteries, the quick start guide and the warranty card. Plan for the HDMI cable that matches your source, and for the mount if the installation is on the ceiling.
Is the EB-W53 projector new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. The reference to quote for an accessory or a spare part is V11HB57042: the EB-W series includes several models with similar names, and this reference removes any ambiguity.
