Is the Epson EB-X49 in 4:3 format, and what does that mean?
Yes, its panel is 4:3, with XGA 1024 × 768 resolution. This is the traditional format of classrooms and school textbooks, ideal for a document or a table. 16:9 content is displayed in full, with a black band at the top and bottom of the image.
How much throw distance should you allow to install the EB-X49?
From 1.48 to 1.77 times the width of the desired image: for an image two metres wide, allow about 3 m to 3.50 m of throw distance. The projected size ranges from 30 to 300 inches, and the 1.2× optical zoom lets you fine-tune without moving the projector.
How many HDMI inputs does the EB-X49 have?
Just one, alongside two VGA inputs and a composite input. If two digital sources must stay connected permanently — a desktop PC and a laptop, for example — plan on an HDMI switch or use the VGA input for the second machine.
Does the EB-X49 come with a cable so you can connect it straight away?
Yes, a 1.80 m HDMI cable is in the box, along with the power cable, the remote control and its batteries, the quick start guide and the warranty card. You can therefore connect a laptop and project as soon as you unpack it, with no extra purchase.
How long is the warranty on this Epson EB-X49 projector?
Three years, carry-in, on new equipment for which the invoice serves as the warranty document. The lamp, a wear part, is covered for its first 1,000 hours of use — a common distinction on lamp-based projectors that is worth knowing before you buy.
What should you do when the EB-X49's lamp is worn out?
It can be replaced, under the reference ELPLP97. Its stated lifespan is 6,000 hours in normal mode and 12,000 hours in eco mode: the first figure is the one to go by for use at full brightness, the second assumes deliberately reduced brightness.
Can you project wirelessly from a phone with the EB-X49?
With the ELPAP11 Wi-Fi adapter (5 GHz), sold separately. Once fitted, the iProjection app lets you connect by scanning a QR code shown on screen, or via NFC. Without this adapter, networking is done through the built-in RJ45 Ethernet port.
Does the EB-X49 straighten the image in both directions?
Vertical correction is automatic over ± 30°, while horizontal correction is manual, also over ± 30°. Up-down tilt is therefore corrected on its own at power-on, whereas a sideways offset requires a trip to the menu, with four-corner adjustment if needed.
Is the EB-X49 bright enough for a lit classroom?
3,600 lumens of white and colour brightness alike, with a native contrast ratio of 16,000:1. This equality between the two measurements comes from 3LCD technology: colours do not wash out with the shutters open. In eco mode, brightness drops to 2,400 lumens.
What noise and power consumption can you expect from the EB-X49?
37 dB(A) in normal mode and 28 dB(A) in eco mode, with 286 W in normal use, 180 W in eco mode and 0.3 W in standby. Eco mode therefore acts on fan noise, power consumption and lamp life all at once.
Is the EB-X49's built-in speaker good enough?
It delivers 5 W: enough to accompany a video in a quiet classroom or an office. For a large room, the mini-jack audio output lets you connect to a sound system, and the ELPSP02 active speakers are among the accessories intended for this model.
Can the EB-X49 be mounted on a classroom ceiling?
Yes, it is designed for ceiling as well as table use, with the ELPMB23 mount and the 450 or 700 mm ELPFP13 and ELPFP14 extension poles if the ceiling is high. A security cable slot and a Kensington lock protect the unit in a room open to pupils.
Can you display two documents at the same time on the EB-X49?
Yes, the split-screen function divides the image between two sources. The projector can also be controlled remotely over the network, via PJLink, AMX, Crestron, Control4 or Extron, and Epson Projector Management software monitors its status from an administration workstation.
