This product is covered for 3 years by a manufacturer's warranty (the brand's official warranty). Your iris.ma invoice serves as the warranty document: keep it safe.

A problem with your product? Don't worry: contact us by phone, WhatsApp or e-mail. Depending on the brand, we direct you either straight to the repairer appointed by the brand to fix your product, or to us — and we take care of the rest.

  • If a repair is possible, it is carried out free of charge.
  • If the product cannot be repaired, the brand offers an exchange for another product.

Frequently asked questions about this product

What does the “RP” in RackStation RS1221RP+ stand for?
It stands for redundant power supply: two units instead of one. If one fails, or if a cord is accidentally unplugged, the second takes over with no interruption of service. It is the only fundamental difference from the RS1221+, which has just one.
What rack depth should be allowed for the RS1221RP+?
38 cm for this dual power supply model — compared with 30 cm for the single power supply version. It fits most shallow enclosures and two-post racks; it is the 38 cm figure you need to check against your rack.
Are drives included with the RS1221RP+?
No, they are ordered separately. The eight bays accept 2.5" or 3.5" SATA drives, either hard drives or SSDs. Include this in your budget: it often costs more than the chassis itself.
How many drives can the RS1221RP+ support?
Twelve, by adding an RX418 expansion unit. You start with the eight internal bays and expand later without replacing the NAS or migrating existing volumes.
What performance can you expect from the RS1221RP+?
Over 2,315 MB/s sequential read and 1,147 MB/s write, with over 100,000 IOPS in 4K random read. MB/s describes large files, IOPS numerous small accesses — two measurements that are not interchangeable.
Can the memory of the RS1221RP+ be upgraded?
Yes, from 4 to 32 GB of DDR4 ECC, as two 16 GB modules. ECC is what matters: it corrects memory errors that would silently corrupt a file, which ordinary RAM does not do.
Can any service interruption be avoided with this NAS?
By pairing two identical units with Synology High Availability: the two servers form a cluster, and failover from one to the other takes one minute in the event of a failure. The redundant power supply and RAID cover the remaining incidents.
How can the RS1221RP+ network be made faster?
It has four 1GbE ports, which can be aggregated, and a PCIe slot that accepts a 10 or 25 GbE card — or an NVMe SSD cache card if random access, rather than bandwidth, is the limiting factor.
Can the RS1221RP+ record surveillance cameras?
Yes, up to 40 IP cameras with Surveillance Station. The NAS then combines three roles: file server, backup target for workstations and network video recorder, under the same DSM operating system.
Is the Synology RS1221RP+ new and under warranty?
New, part number RS1221RPPLUS, in original Synology packaging, with a 3-year warranty backed by the invoice. The datasheet details all the specifications.
