System memory is 8 GB of DDR4 ECC UDIMM, expandable up to 64 GB. This NAS server delivers impressive throughput of 189,098 IOPS in 4K random reads and 4,718 MB/s in sequential reads. It scales up to 36 bays with the RX1217(RP) expansion unit. Redundant power supplies, ECC memory and the Btrfs file system provide optimal data protection. No, they are ordered separately. The twelve bays take 2.5" or 3.5" SATA drives. On a chassis of this size, drives account for a large share of the budget: cost them before you order, not after.
How far can the RS3621RPxs scale?
Up to 36 drives, by adding two RX1217RP or RX1217 expansion units, without major work on the existing setup. The base chassis is a twelve-bay 2U unit for a 19-inch rack.
What does the RS3621RPxs's redundant power supply protect against?
It covers two separate incidents: the failure of one power unit and the accidental removal of a power cord. The fans are also hot-swappable: they can be serviced without powering the system down.
