Product overview

A desktop UPS to protect a computer and its peripherals: line-interactive with voltage regulation and 900 VA / 540 W.
Technology & protection: it takes over on battery the moment the power fails, absorbs surges and corrects voltage dips and spikes without using the battery.
Power: 900 VA for 540 W of usable power — a PC, a monitor and their accessories.
Runtime: about 11 minutes at half load (270 W), 6 minutes at 70%.

Frequently asked questions about this product

How long does the BR900MI run on battery?
11 minutes at 50% load, i.e. 270 W, and 6 minutes at 70%, i.e. 378 W. A full recharge, on the other hand, takes 12 hours: that is long, and worth knowing if power cuts come one after another.
Are all six outlets on the BR900MI battery-backed?
Yes, all six C13 outlets are powered by the battery. Plan for IEC power cords: there is no household socket on this unit, and its input is IEC as well.
What does the BR900MI display show?
A multifunction LCD display shows the load, the battery level and the remaining runtime — without installing any software. This is what sets the Back-UPS Pro series apart from models with simple indicator lights.
What waveform does the BR900MI output?
A stepped approximation to a sine wave, built up in steps, not a pure sine wave. Switchover takes 10 milliseconds typical, 12 at most — slightly slower than the average for the category.
How much load can this 900 VA unit handle?
540 W. This wattage figure is the one to compare with your computer workstation and its peripherals. The UPS also dissipates only 16.4 BTU per hour: it produces very little heat.
Can the BR900MI battery be replaced?
Yes, under the reference APCRBC164. It is rated for 3 to 5 years of service: after a few years it is the battery you replace, not the UPS.
How much space does the BR900MI take up, and is it noisy?
9.1 cm wide, 31 cm deep and 19 cm high, weighing 7.1 kg: a slim tower format that is easy to slip behind a desktop tower. It is rated at 45 dBA.
Is the APC Back-UPS Pro BR900MI new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document, for a period of 2 years. It is CE, C-Tick, EAC and RCM certified, and connects to the computer through a USB port for automatic shutdown. The datasheet covers the rest.
