Frequently asked questions about this product

Can the Blackwire 8225's noise cancellation be adjusted?
Yes, the hybrid ANC can be set to three levels: you adjust the attenuation to the actual noise of the open-plan office instead of putting up with a single setting. That is rare on a wired headset.
What does Acoustic Fence offer over an ordinary noise-cancelling microphone?
It sets up a barrier around your voice: the microphone only transmits what comes from the zone in front of the mouth and rejects the rest. It is the half of the system that works for the person you are talking to, while the ANC works for you.
Can the headset be adjusted precisely to each head?
Its speakers rotate through 180° and the headband has adjustment markers: you find your position at a glance, which matters on a shared workstation or when the headset travels in a bag.
Can you answer calls and mute the microphone from the headset?
Yes, the call answer, microphone mute and volume buttons are on the headset itself, not on a control unit hanging from the cable. You keep your hands on the keyboard and the screen in front of you.
Does the Blackwire 8225 work on a computer without USB-C?
Yes, a USB-C/A adapter is included with the USB-C connection: the headset plugs into any computer, on Windows or macOS, with no prior installation.
186 g: is it comfortable enough for a day of meetings?
That is the stated weight for this stereo on-ear active noise-cancelling headset: ANC electronics always add a few dozen grams compared with a simple call headset. Poly compensates with a lightweight design and on-ear ear cushions.
How does it differ from the non-Teams-certified version of the Blackwire 8225?
The certification. This model, the 8X225AA, is the Microsoft Teams certified version: the headset's call controls are validated for the Teams client. The hardware itself is identical from one variant to the other.
Is this POLY Blackwire 8225 new and under warranty?
Yes, new in its original Poly packaging, USB-C/A adapter included. Your invoice serves as the warranty document and covers 1 year on this model.
