Frequently asked questions about this product

Why does the SMV3000AI have a C20 input rather than an ordinary plug?
Because it draws a lot of current: C20 is the heavy-duty format, designed for high loads. Its power cord is therefore not that of a desktop UPS, and it does not plug into a standard C13-C14 cord.
How much load can this 3 kVA unit really handle?
2100 W for a stated 3000 VA. This wattage figure is the one to compare with the combined consumption of your high-end workstation or small server — not the VA in the product name.
What does the UPS show during a power cut?
An LCD screen shows the load and the alarms, backed up by separate audible alarms for low battery and overload. This lets you follow the unit's status without installing any software.
Which outlets does the SMV3000AI have?
C13 outlets, the format used on computer and server power cords, between five and eight depending on the configuration. Plan for IEC power cords: there is no household socket.
How much space does the SMV3000AI take up, and how much does it weigh?
It is a compact tower that stands on the floor, weighing 25.2 kg. At that weight, the unit does not go on a shelf: plan for a stable spot on the floor, under the desk or in a utility room.
Is the APC SMV3000AI new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. It is a line-interactive model with a voltage regulator and a USB port for automatic system shutdown, and it outputs a sine wave.
