What does the Acton III's Dynamic Loudness technology do?
It adjusts the tonal balance according to the volume: at low levels, the ear perceives less bass and treble, and the speaker compensates to keep the sound consistent. Quiet listening in the evening therefore stays balanced, without having to touch the settings.
How are the Marshall Acton III's 60 W distributed?
Across three class D amplifiers: one of 30 W for the woofer and two of 15 W for the tweeters, angled outwards with redesigned waveguides to widen the soundstage in the room.
Does the Acton III work without being plugged in?
No: it is a mains-powered home speaker, with no battery. It is made to stay in place — shelf, sideboard, desk — not to go along on an outing.
What can you connect to the Acton III by cable?
An analogue source on its 3.5 mm auxiliary input: computer, player, console. It is this model's only audio input — the RCA input is reserved for the larger models in Marshall's home range.
Can everything be controlled from the speaker, without a phone?
Yes: the brass knobs for volume, bass and treble are on top, along with the play/pause and previous or next track buttons, the source selector and the power switch. The Marshall Bluetooth app is not needed for everyday use.
Can two Marshall Acton III speakers be paired?
No. The manufacturer states it: this speaker is standalone and cannot be used in a pair or in a multi-speaker group with other Marshall speakers. For a larger room, look at a higher model in the range.
How much space does the Acton III take up on a piece of furniture?
