Product overview

Professional tower UPS to protect a workstation or a small server: line-interactive with voltage regulation, 1500 VA / 1000 W and an LCD display.
Technology & protection: it switches to battery the instant the power cuts out, absorbs surges and continuously corrects voltage fluctuations without eating into the battery.

Frequently asked questions about this product

How long does the SMT1500I run on battery?
23 minutes at 50% load, i.e. 500 W, and 12 minutes at 70%, i.e. 700 W. A full recharge then takes only 3 hours: the reserve is quickly restored.
Is the SMT1500I's output a pure sine wave?
Yes, the output is a sine wave — rare on a line-interactive unit, which usually produces a stepped, reconstructed signal. This is what the power-factor-corrected power supplies of servers require.
What outlets does the SMT1500I have?
Eight C13 outlets, the format used by computer and server power cords, powered by the battery. The unit is supplied with a 1.83 m power cord.
Why does 1500 VA give only 1000 W?
The power factor is about 0.67: 1000 W actually available. That is enough to cover a complete workstation or a small server — but it is this wattage that you should compare with your equipment.
Over what voltage range does the SMT1500I's AVR operate?
Between 160 and 286 V, on a frequency detected automatically at 50 or 60 Hz ±3 Hz. As long as the mains stays within this window, the battery is not called upon and remains available for real power cuts.
Can a network management card be added?
Yes, a SmartSlot is provided for an optional network or management card. Local control, for its part, goes through the USB port, for automatic, clean shutdown of the system.
How much space does the SMT1500I take up, and is it noisy?
171 × 439 × 219 mm and 24 kg, in tower format. It is rated at 45 dBA: best placed on the floor rather than on the desk, but it does not require a dedicated server room.
Is the APC Smart-UPS SMT1500I new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document for 3 years, with the internal battery covered for 2 years. A multifunction LCD console shows the status, and three distinct audible alarms signal on battery, low battery and overload. The datasheet details the rest.
