Product overview

Professional UPS to protect servers and networking equipment: line-interactive with voltage regulation, 1500 VA / 1000 W, 2U rack form factor.
Technology & protection: it switches to battery the instant the power cuts out, absorbs surges and continuously corrects voltage fluctuations without drawing on the battery — clean, stable power at all times.

Frequently asked questions about this product

How long does the SMT1500RMI2U run on battery?
25 minutes at 50% load, i.e. 500 W, and 14 minutes at 70%, i.e. 700 W. A full recharge then takes only 3 hours.
How long does it take to switch to battery?
2 milliseconds typical — considerably faster than the 6 to 10 ms usual in this category. The output is also a pure sine wave, which server power supplies require.
Which outlets does the SMT1500RMI2U have?
Four C13 outlets, with a C14 inlet. The box contains the rack mounting rails, a USB cable, an RS-232 cable, the installation guide and the CDs.
Why does 1500 VA give only 1000 W?
The power factor is 0.66: 1500 × 0.66 = 1000 W actually available. Compare this wattage figure with the consumption of your server or network rack, never the VA in the product name.
How much rack space does the SMT1500RMI2U take up?
2U in height (89 mm), 432 mm wide and 457 mm deep, weighing 28.6 kg. The mounting rails are included: nothing extra to order to install it.
Over what voltage range does the AVR operate?
Between 160 and 286 V, at a frequency auto-sensed at 50 or 60 Hz ±3 Hz. As long as the mains stays within this window, the battery is not used.
How do you monitor the SMT1500RMI2U?
Via a USB port, an RJ-45 serial port and a SmartSlot for an optional network card. A multifunction LCD console on the front panel shows the status, with no software needed.
Is the APC Smart-UPS SMT1500RMI2U new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document, for a period of 3 years. It stays below 46 dBA: suitable for installation in a rack or an equipment room. The datasheet covers the rest.
